Default switchblade key fob "mod"

My factory Keys and fob drive me nuts being a tall guy. The fob is always on my knee and it drives me mad. Losing the switch blade key was the only think I regretted about selling my Camaro for the v. Found a seller on eBay (posted link below) who makes them with the pk3+ chip and the correct electronics for the fob transmitter. Was kinda skeptical about the Chinese key but was impressed when it showed up! It's a vw/Audi case so it's made well and pretty solid. the seller has two different styles but one is a 3 button and this one was a 4 button fob. i wanted to retain all the buttons.

Had the key cut and programmed it today and immediately I'm in love. The clearance is great, no more rubbing on my knee and it will not poke holes in my pockets any more..........

Gonna order a tech II this week and get the fob programmed, hopefully it will have a decent range to it and actually work. The oem fob you have to drop half the time to get it to work even after I took it apart and cleaned it. So as long as the fob works this will be a solid option and I will buy another one! Stay posted for fob details!

Find someone with a tech2 or go to the dealer.the key you can do yourself.
Had it cut, put my original one in, turn to run wait for the lock symbol to go out and immediately do the same with the new key and presto.

I did, they where the other ones I mentioned, there is no panic button. If you don't care about having it then they should work. I wanted full functionality. The one I got had the panic button built into the side

Did it also come with a cute little pink can of pepper spray?

Can you still use it to reprogram your tire pressure sensors? Have you tried that to see if it recognized the press of both lock and unlock? If that still works, seems like a nice upgrade for sure.

Not sure yet, as soon as my tech2 shows up I will find out. But it operates on the same fccid as the old remote so yes it should retain all functionality. We will find out soon.

I had one of these keys for another car. I like the switchblade key because it doesn't take up much room in your pocket. Unfortunately the switchblade action broke fairly quick and it ended up being more like a knife you have to flick open with your wrist. Besides that, I was still happy with it. Does it have a Cadillac emblem on the back?

Yup, ordered a v badge to but on it because I can't leave well enough alone. Hopefully the tech2 will be here first of the week. I figured if the case was an audio kinda deal I could always raid parts from one as they are readily available and dirt cheap.

you will need to find a unit with the correct receiver frequency and program it. the key is not your issue, you can take the key you already have cut it and put it in the fob.

*update*

so my tech 2 clone came in today, im already in love with this thing(thanks byron)

but back to the fob. i reprogrammed the old fob into slot 1 and the new one into slot two so i wouldn't lose all my settings as the only fob i had was the original #2

took the programing just fine and held my slot settings. works like a charm and has a vastly improved range over the stock turd. however even the oems range seemed to be slightly better after reprogramming. not great but i dont have to drop it to get it to work for now..............

if you want to do this and your in las vegas let me know if you need access to a tech2 instead of throwing $$$ at the dealer.

i will get a better video of the range after work tonight when its dark.

If only I could cross things off the "gotta buy" list faster than I add them.. Alradco rad or Tech II clone.. Hmm. I need the rad but "winter" is coming up. I say "winter" because here it just means it won't hit 90s every day of the week.

Can they be programmed with after market alarm systems? If that's possible, I'm sold!

Is it an aftermarket controller and fob or is it still on the stock key fob? If it is then yes I would imagine so as the alarm would be relying on the stock radio transmitter
