I said that our drive ratio was too deep because we can't carry enough tire to use it. I disagree that 275mm in the rear is a lot of tire (e.g. D3's 1001HP Le Monstre is running 275/30ZR20 front and 345/25ZR20 rear) and that 12.0-12.5 is "the" optimum gear ratio. It might be for some cars, but your weight, tires, and the usable power band of your motor based on its cam and blower (if applicable) will mandate different drive ratios.

This car was not designed to drag race, and it's obviously not amenable to modifications that would allow it to drag race. The 750 RWHP Mallet CTS-V did 12.40 @ 125 mph. Skydiver's 864 RWHP CTS-V did 11.64 @ 133.68 mph. The fastest ever recorded quarter mile was done by the 440 RWHP CTS-VR, which did 11.11 @ 130 mph (3150 lbs with 275/35ZR18 front and 335/30ZR18 rear tires). As a result, I think that selecting a gear ratio for drag racing is a mistake, because it'll lead you down a path that'll ultimately wind up leaving you unsatisfied, if that's your thing. It'd be interesting to see the demographics on how many 8.8/9" IRS CTS-V owners bought/built them to track and how many built them to drag race.

im shooting for mid 11's, ill be in the 650whp range on spray..515ish on boost alone. nt05's on my 20's 275/40/20. and 275/45/18 slicks on stock 18's in the back when i do hit the track this year. my car is heavy so its gonna take some practice and driving to do it but i have faith.

Yes sir, that is what Gulf and I are trying to do.

I also try to add some insight into certain aspects that I am knowledgeable about. I TRY and present them in a factual manner without influxes of opinion.

I try not to start arguments in this thread, but it looks like I am failing.

Schitzo is giving us some more info via specs and pictures from his findings, so we will be getting a good database in ONE place for the community.

ummmmmm, thought we were out of axle choices and I found a shop in TB that will build anything we need......both of us have been busy......Gulf's Housing is soon to be PC'd...I have cleaned and started tearing down Stone17s Al housing so I can blast it and then paint or PC it.

I need to clean up these brackets and get them to the CAD drafter.

Just too busy.

The stub axles came in from DSS, they look pretty bullet proof. Nothing changes over from the mustang driveshaft to the CTS-V driveshaft so thats a wash.

I just paid my property taxes, which were a kick in the *****, I'll order a Driveshaft in Feburary.
