Cgroh89's 2004 CTS-V Progress thread
Sitting here watching Boardwalk Empire and right below the TV is this big box that says Tick Performance on it. So I got to thinking, the car has come a long way since I have purchased it and it would be nice to make note of what I have done and my future mods.
Current Mods
G-Force Wheel Hop Axles
Pacesetter Long tubes
Revshift Trans Insert
W4M Mail Tune
K and N intake
Mods sitting in the living room.
Tick Performance SNS 2 Cam
BTR Springs
Comp Push Rods
Comp Trunion Upgrade
Ls2 Timing Chain
Digital Shift Light
ATI Super Damnper
Rev Shift motor mounts
Header Studs
This is the car that was sold to make the CTS-V happen. A bone Stock 1996 Camaro. Only mod. Wheels. Made it through a Detroit winter and moved to Memphis with me sold it for a pretty good profit.
At the LTX shootout 2012
And in its place a 2004 CTS-V. One owner IIRC 62k miles when I bought it. Black interior, bone stock unit. Interior was in decent shape but the body definitely left some to be desired. Which will be covered latter in the story
The one thing that sucked is that I bought it, drove it home and left for work for 7 days! So I didnt get to drive it!
First things first, 20% all the way around
Then black dipped wheels
K and N intake. Dont like using Wet Filters but a deal is a good deal
Then ditched the Manifolds for some Pacesetter long tubes MSD wires Fire sleeves. Did not need to use any O2 extensions
The one thing I had to do was cut down the off road extensions. They would not line up with the exhuast right and made the stock catback stick out 3 inches past the bumper.
Once this was completed, I went ahead and upgraded the brakes with some Hawk HPS (Blue Box) and matched the rotors to the bearing with a Warthog lathe. The car stopped before but feels way better at high speed with all the runout taken away with a bearin/rotor matched
Wooooooo CEL due to no cats at this time
Time to get rid of all that crappy GM peeling paint interior stuff

Then... During the radio refinish. I fell down my stairs, hurt my ankle pretty bad. Months latter is still hurts like a some bitch at times. I fell with the head unit in my arms and I brought that in like a ******* football. Break my ankle/leg but for the love of god dont cost me 1k on this damn headunit when I drop it
Once I was back on my feet and feeling bored
This damn emblem was 65 bucks!!!
Went ahead and installed the ReVshift insert. Made the car feel much better
On my way to the 2013 LTX shootout. This car sees monthly 1k+ round trips
On my way to Cincinatti with some friends
Then the whole car got an Anthracite plastidip
See more here

Anthracite Powder Coat wheels

After the whole plasti dip ordeal I went on a detail spree and spent an awful lot of money at Chemical Guys

The car received a Wet sand of all scratches V32 on all scratches Then stepped up with compounds. to V38. This was about 10 hours worth of work on a Sunday. The results were amazing. If you have made it this far you can see that the car looked good but the paint left much to be desired. not anymore!

Good work on a very long process. I like doing things myself like all that. It's fun going to a show or a cruise and when someone asks... Where did you got that done at... When you say "my garage" its so much more satisfying... To me at least.

Great looking car. I have been looking for a good shot of someone with a silver V1 that has blacked out just the mesh in the grilles. I think this has just convinced me to go ahead and do that.

Grill and wheel wise, the grill is still dipped. The wheels were a fluke because of some curbrash, the powder coat was only 260 bucks.. Hard to pass up.
The dip on the whole car, I had some inconsistencies like striping and a few bubble spots. I am thinking about doing it again red with gold wheels maybe next summer. Drove around with it for around a month.

I was told by the guys who do occupant safety and crash testing at my last job that you should always wear shoes in the car. I don't at times but i figure i should let you know.
