What did you do to your V today?

I decided to paint (rattlecan) my wheels, by no means are they perfect (could use another coat or two) but I was trying to get them done before a local cruise in. They came out pretty nice though, will definitely look into powder coating them though. I also went to the pick a part and snagged a defrost dash panel, center console armrest and some fender liners. All for a grand total of $28! Now if I could just find a damned alcantera sun visor.

On The Tree
Yesterday, vacuumed the floor mats and carpet.
Also, I wish all the people selling cool stuff for our cars would use something other than facebook or at least facebook + another venue. Not getting on facebook just to buy car parts. Oh well. My loss I guess or not.

Got my Alradco in the mail after a long wait.
Got my replacement CV joint from DSS.
Waiting on a power bond balancer and arp bolt to arrive before installing. Also picked up a steam vent kit and a few other goodies like CS toe rods. May get them installed also tomorrow along with the CV joint.

Need a new battery. Looking at the same group size as OEM. Found Pep Boys has "Champion" branded batteries that are made by Exide for about $155. Also found good ol East Penn Mfg. Deka 6101MF. Big fan of that company.
Anyone find lightweight batteries to use as a daily-driver, reliable, heat-resistant package?

Haven't done much lately other than waste tires. We've been getting some rain so I've been off having some fun where I can. Grew up in the NE so it's the closest thing I have to driving in the snow.

So DSS strikes again.
This time it failed right out of the box. That I paid international shipping on.
They sent me the wrong parts. I'm going to arrange a layover on my way back stateside and go in person, parts in hand.
This has moved beyond unacceptable and into the straight up full retard.

Ordered the Paragon Autosport front bumper brace. Saggy beeytoch.
Can't find an everstart Maxx in the group 101 size, assuming you used an everstart Maxx 78S size, jmilz? The 78S is almost a perfect match, only slightly taller at LENGTH x WIDTH x HEIGHT (10-1/5" X 7-1/8" X 7-5/16")
From all my research of the OEM group 101 size battery, the foot print should be (10-1/4" X 7-1/16" X 6-11/16" ) Sourced those dimensions from Deka and Champion/Exide (exide part number 101C). Mean Weight of 36 pounds. Not many batteries are out there in this size btu they do exist. I have also seen many examples of people doing some strange things to either their cars, the batteries or the hoods to make the incorrect size battery work in their car. Quite entertaining.
Agreed, Optimas used to be great, I had one that last a decade of great functionality. I bought a second one and saw the label had lots of new writing. Now, Johnson Controls bought the name, moved Manufacturing to Mexico, and drastically reduced pure Lead requirements in the batteries so they are no longer as great as they were.
Probably going to get a Pep Boys Champion Battery 101-650CH or the Deka 6101MF unless I can find a legit, lightweight and heat resistant battery that makes me satisfied to use as an replacement for my needs.

WalMart Everstart Maxx. Best battery you can get for the money, not even close. Gotta spend 2-3x to get something meaningfully better. It's in all my vehicles. If you want better, Die Hard Platinum is a nice choice or the really goochie stuff: Odyssey or XS would be my choice there. I used to be an Optima guy but their quality dropped after the Interstate acquisition. That's why I am now a DHP guy if I'm going to spend 2 bills. 3 bills, Odyssey. A bill+ - Everstart Maxx all day long...and twice on Sunday.
Not a fan of anything for that terrible company known as Wal Mart. If folks wish to shop there, hooray, good for those folks. I $&%*@^% hate that terrible store. I don't want to give them any money. So........
Unless I can gather some example of group 101 batteries that fit, or some legit lightweight (besides AAIIIC I saw his via thread) li-po or other small AGM batteries I can use, this is pretty cut and dry. Group 101 recommendations or something small and lightweight.
Winter time, my car mostly sits but I was able to drive around yesterday. I am still working on finding the correct belt tensioner. I need ot install my ATI balancer as my OEM one wobbles. I plan on buying the Creative Steel mount kit, the $395 full-ride version (with shifter bushings) and need to get that Hurst short shifter from the forum member and finally need to install the Voodoo chicken poly driveshaft carrier bearing. While I know now how to drive mine to avoid all that sloshing about and causing the terrible noise, I cannot beat the hell out of the car like I want so I do not. I drive it enough to keep it happy. Not how I know I will want to drive it. Baby steps.
That brings me to after I get the normal bothersome and easy to replace parts upgraded, the rear end is still a problem. I either nee dot address the diff or the entire rear end by replacing a CTS gen 2 rear cradle and sourcing Gen2 V rear parts or get an 8.8 or 9.0 Rear inch and swap that into the existing V1 sub-frame assembly. Recommendations?
Also, anyone have members rides threads that are current that they wish to share? I love seeing ideas through members. That would stop me from buying old dead stuff that no one buys anymore and also stop me from PMing everyone asking them about minute details that would or could have been shared on a forum post. Thanks.
