I've used this service and I will say that the work is top notch! The repaired shaft has roughly 2000 miles on it since the install and all is good. I still plan on a complete write up once I get some time. Took 6 days total and would have been less, but there was a terrible snow storm that delayed it one day.

I think seeing some of this work posted up will give some great exposure to get it out of the guinea pig stage.

Have you ever taken these shafts apart? Also we get our carriers from a manufacturer that exceeds OEM specs.. Sold to us. Not really something anyone can buy. We may be interested in your spare driveshafts as long as the CV joints aren't hosed

Yes, several times.

So they will sell to you, but nobody else.

How did that happen?

Just an update.... We are going to start a true core swap program soon. ALSO- the current carriers we have sourced are basically identical to the stock unit. We are in production of high quality polyurethane carrier supports from one of the countries leading polyurethane manufacturers. We will be doing full testing of these units before offering them to the public.. Just wanted to give an update.

What about international buyers? It would be cheaper for me to buy the components and do the labor here...

Or just get a two pc DS from DSS

We would consider selling just the carrier unit.

Its not easy to disassemble this driveshaft.. lol. its a 3hour process for us and we've refined the system. Most people would not be capable of replacing the carrier themselves, and thats why we developed this service. But we have and surely would keep selling just the carriers to people.

mind you that the testing phase for the new poly carrier will be long, so dont expect them available in a month. The current carrier unit is available though.

I have 90k miles and my driveshaft seems to be fine except for it flailing around like a stun gun victim at the slightest touch of the throttle. Anyone else have this problem? Mine is terrible. If I floor it in 1st-3rd and let up, then try to throttle again, you'd think the car was going to bend and snap in half. I thought this rubber band feeling was bad diff or cradle bushings, but everything is snug except for this shaft...

I'll probably wait for a more solid mounting option here. What do you do now for the stock service in this area? replace with same type of rubber?

do you recommend servicing the whole shaft, bearing and all or do you offer a housing only replacement service? Seems like if it will be apart anyway makes sense to go ahead and replace everything.

--I did the window weld mod a while back. Seems to have worked pretty well. I only the bottom half of the donut too... recently the bucking got alot worse, so when I was under the car this weekend I confirmed the ww had come out...may do it again but this time do the whole surround on front and back and cake that crap on as deep as the rim of the ring. can't hurt anything.

dude... that rubber surround is shot!!! haha.. as of right now we offer a stock style replacement. The new unit is of high quality rubber with a high quality bearing that meets or exceeds the factory radial loading specs. The new rubber surround should supply as many miles as your factory unit did if not more.

Our poly carrier mounts wont be delivered for atleast a month and then a lengthy testing process will occur before offering to fellow V owners.

i'm not really getting any random vibrations at speed or under heavy throttle application.

but i am getting some random speed dependent whine that comes and goes as it pleases. it goes away if i come to a complete stop, but it is bound to come back randomly. from doing a little searching, this lead me to the carrier bearing being the issue? i'm thinking the next time i've got the car off the ground i'll spray some lube into it and see where it leads me.

kind of makes me want to just buy a single piece driveshaft if that is really the issue, though.

Quick Reply: Replace that driveshaft bearing!!!
