Default Creative Steel: CTS-V 5 Lug Swap

We have figured out the 5 lug hub swap for our cars, 04-07 CTS-V. We will be offering this kit for sale in the near future but, we would like some input on what brand of hubs you guys think we should use. There is a huge difference in price from one hub manufacturer to another so this will play a big part in the final price of the kit.
Just an example: Duralast hubs (china) are about $110 each and Timkin or SKF (from many places in the world) are about $200 each.

At times people can be very polarized on what brand of part they buy for a particular type of part for their car and not care as much when buying another type of part, this is why I'm asking.

If you have followed the 5 lug swap projects of others you know that the retention of the parking brake has been a stumbling block. We also have this figured out with off the shelf parts along with parts that we will supply. For the customer this entire kit is a "bolt-on" affair.

All questions and comments are most welcome.

I don't have enough experience with different hubs to provide an educated opinion. I will say that I'm interested in being in on the first group buy. Thanks for working this out!

F'in figures. Not even a month after I dropped 1300 on team dynamics wheels.

Good job tho. I'm sure people will like this kit. I'm not sure I'd care either way about the hubs as long as everything works and you offer replacement parts as needed.

Awesome! I would personally go for the timkin at 90 dollars more. Our 4400hp 200 ton locomotives at work run timkin hubs lol, it's a name I trust to say the least. Maybe sell a kit with timkin or equivalent and a kit without hubs for guys who want to source cheaper hubs? Either way I don't care lol, glad to see you guys come through with this! I emailed you guys a while back requesting/suggesting a 5 lug kit and you said it was already in the works and here it is...you guys kick ***! My wallet just **** my pocket though, more parts I "need"!

Heeeeeellllllz Yea!

Just a thought, I'm not trying to second guess you on your hub choice... But OEM Vette hub and bearing assemblies are $143 on rock auto. And I like OEM stuff purely because they are built to last a long long time. I'm not sure if they would even work but here is a link for one of the corners.

Edit: I just noticed... $143 was just for the rears... The fronts are $230+... Carry on with the timkens. Sorry about that.

Yes! And a true bolt on solution too?!?!

Now a chance for us V1 owners to have a wider choice of wheels for once!

I was planning to use SKF when I did the swap this summer. Hopefully your kit price is cost effective. Looking forward to see what all you did.

looking forward to another CS kit on my V.

I have read on here and other forums that SKF hubs are good quality.

Go with the Timkin for sure, this is probably one of the best threads I have seen in the past few years. What a huge hurdle this overcomes for V owners. Id even say this is bigger then bolt in 8.8 kits.

Great job Creative Steel.

While I'm set for now, if I ever needed a set of wheels in the future this would be the route I would probably take. Very cool and keep up the good work.

Having installed wheel bearings on regular passenger cars before and using cheap ones.....only to later replace them with timkins because the others failed is why I would rather do it once. The extra money is well spent to not have to do that labor twice and pay twice.

I can only imagine people who drive these cars pretty hard can kill a cheap part faster then a well built one.
