Default What are some popular tires these days for a V1?

The time has come to get 4 new tires, and I'd like to have a tire thats recommended/used/liked by V guys. Right now it sits on 245/45/18. I am looking for a great, all around tire with a good balance between dry/wet pavement. Don't normally drive in rain or snow but in case I get caught in it I want something that will get me home, lol. I also want something that will have an average-above average life on it as I want them to last.

Also, from where or what company will I most likely find the best deal?

Thanks in advance.

Michelin Pilot Super Sport. A bit pricey, but good all around tire.

The Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season tires might last longer, however, though I don't know much about them.

I have the later of what Rand there said. Michelin Pilot sport A/S3. Read some reviews on them. My review of them is excellent and I believe they would fit in right with what you're looking for. 45k warranty. Michelins are more expensive but they are an excellent tire. I can't get them them to spin and they grip awesome dry or wet. Everybody loves their tires though, so you'll get a lot of mixed opinions.

I've had two sets of Hankook V12 Evos, and thought those are great tires for the price. They work great in the rain. I've ordered a set of the new version V12, and I hope they're the next step up from the original V12.

I really enjoyed the Michelin as3s. Great all season but with decent dry grip as well. Just depends how aggressive you want.

The more summer grip, the less cold weather (snow) grip for sure.
I'd consider a 255/40 as well, they are a much more common size. Typically
Cheaper too

I've been running Michelin Pilot Super Sports as well. Great street tire and if you track the car at all I wouldn't recommend anything else. They are a bit pricey though, but IMO well worth the money.

Here's something to throw at you. I pulled 1.08G on the pilot sport A/S3's this morning at 70 degrees, they barely started to squak and there was just a smidge of front end push. I can still pull over a 1.0 when it is 40 degrees out! So depends what temps you drive in.

I've got Nitto Motivos and they ride good but are starting to feather on the front at 5k miles. $620 or so out the door at Discount. Free rotate and balance...not bad overall, probably not great either. I'll be going to the Conti DWs next time.

Thanks for the replies, all. Seems there are 2-3 that it will probably come down to. Anyone order from the internet, or just find a local tire store to order them through? Never ordered tires off the internet, and sort of interested to hear any experiences.

Thinking about it. 255/40 won't rub on the stock V1 18" will they?

I bought my last set of tires from Tirerack. They were the cheapest when I was looking. Had them delivered to Firestone and they installed them. Very easy.

I run 255/45 all the way around. At stock height they don't rub but the front is very close. 255/40 is a little too small for this car.

I got the $100 off $400 deal on ebay for a $200 saved on some Continental Extreme Contact DW. I like em. I've only had em on for 48hrs though, but they seem to track a lil.

Truth. Their replacement certificate program is awesome. I've had them on at least 8 sets of tires and with my luck have only had 1 set that I never had some sort of nail/screw/curb or other damage that made it worth while.

For the record I had the Michelin A/S (I think they were '2s') and then moved up to the Pilot Super Sport. Both were absolutely worth every penny. The A/S were amazing in the wet and the PSS are that much better in the dry...both are quiet and comfortable.

If you factor in the mileage guarantees where if you don't hit the mileage they pro-rate a replacement set with my driving It ends up being a wash dollar wise over the Hankooks or similar b/c they last so much longer but I know everyone is different.

As mentioned earlier, Pilot Super Sports.
I ran them and PS2's before going to slicks. Same grip as PS2's and last longer too
Tire Rack has them in stock sizing and every now and then they run a $70-$100 rebate card on them...

I'm a Hankook fan so for DD I use "V12" and the "RS3" for auto-x. With heavy use of the RS3s on auto-x, they will chunk a little bit but the grip is insane.

Edit:
I say all that I and purchased Michelin PSS for the Forgestar F14s but I have Hankooks on my OEM wheels not regrets.
