Default check gas cap and evap delete

Just a quick question for those who have done the evap delete. I plugged the line to my intake and put tape over the line that goes to the fuel tank, but I'm getting a check gas cap message and a check engine light for large evap leak.

I still have the solenoid connected to the harness and capped off, but I'm wondering if I disconnect it and shut the code off, if it will stop the message on my dic.

I know you can disable it through the tune but not sure otherwise. BTW - I would not use tape over the feed from the gas tank. At LEAST get a vacuum cap and get it secured tightly. If the check valve/solenoid screws up you could end up with fuel in that line. Fuel on tape is no bueno particularly since the tape will eventually come off and you could dump fuel on a hot engine. I know those are a LOT of ifs but...

There's no fuel going through the vapor line.
