I was driving the car last night, and out of nowhere the car started to wine really loud! Is there rear giving out? The car has 74k miles and is an 05, so I know it is a matter of time, I just wanted your guys opinion on what you think.

Ok, I will try to phrase this nicely....the diff is not moving if your car is not moving, yes? You are revving your car in neutral. Think about what is running when car is stationary: alternator, p/s pump, water pump, accessory belts, the idler gear in your trans. That is about all that can make a whine.

Agree, but it is still making that sound while in gear, when driving?

read bmylez post... I would bet on something up front and not in the rear...pop the hood look at the belt and pulleys, look at it while running and see if it gets clearer. your rear diff is not moving at all when stopped, your noise is going up with engine RPM, so look there..

Hopefully something simple like a bad bearing on an idler pulley or the belt is rubbing on something.

could be anything from a throwout bearing, to a bearing in the input shaft area of the transmission, to the alternator (my best guess from the video), to the power steering pump.
