Default Cam swap, is bumper removal required?

The sticky said to remove it, just wanted to make sure I actually had to or is it just for convenience?

Nope. All I did was pull the radiator. You will have to support the a/c condenser with a ziptie or something and when it comes time to pull the cam, you will need someone to lift it out of the way. Also, you have to remember that lollygagger's post includes head swap. You don't need to touch the p/s pump either.

I just moved the AC condenser when I did mine. Just be very careful when moving it around. I was just waiting to hear the dreaded hiss as I moved mine. Best is to have a shop pull the refrigerant and remove the condenser.

But no....leave the bumper on.

Thanks sir!

Did you use the dowel rod trick for the lifters? What am I looking at for install time, 15 hours or so?

I used some 3/8 soft copper. Just roll it out straight and put it into the holes so the lifters stay in place. I've done 4 cams this way. This was on f-body's, but the engines are the same. I also just removed the radiators and just let the a/c hanging on the floor. Just gotta be careful not to break the lines and let all the freon out.

I have a set of the bars that I bought. But you need to use something like dowels to hold them up. Lets you pull the old cam and install the new one nice and slow.
