Default Anybody run M4?

Friday morning I on my way home from work, and had a BMW pull up beside me. I was only doing about 80, he revs, I go to down shift, and he hits it. Well I let him run, then creep up to him in 5th, running about 90, he hits it again, I get about a half a car on him, hold that, shift to 6th, go another 3 or 4 seconds, till I felt uncomfortable because of traffic. I don't know how fast we were going, but I couldn't put any car lengths on him. I've run a new Boss mustang, a new 5.0, BMW 335, and I know this don't mean much, Porsche Boxer S, and I put car lengths on them, but couldn't do it this BMW. I don't DD my car, so I don't have a whole lot of experience, but that M4 impressed me. Wondering if anyone else has had an experience like that. This car still had a paper drive out tag.

The m4's are pretty impressive if I do say so myself. Haven't raced one but my buddy has one.

What mods are done to your car? If you're stock I can definitely see why he stayed with you...

I'm far from stock, I bought the car and it has a Maggie, custom cam, long tube headers, Mangna flow exhaust, that I had rear pipes bent without mufflers, not that it makkes any difference, smaller blower pulleys, and a tune by Vengeance. When I bought it, the add claimed 500HP at the rear wheels, but I think that's kind of optimistic, but it'still the fastest I car ever owned.

If you couldn't pull the M4 with Maggie + cam, it was NOT stock, not even close. And you are actually very close to 500 with cam + pulleys. People consistently make 460+ without those add-ons.

I know it's close to 500, but when I bought the car it was advertised as as 500WHP, , and I don't think I 've seen many Maggie 112 cars at 500WHp, that's why I thought it was optimistic. Don't get me wrong, I put buses on a stock 5.0, and more than one car length on track keyed BOSS 445hp car I work with, and was expecting t put some distance on this car, but it wasn't the case.

Just a tune on the M4 is worth 40whp. If he had a downpipe, then that's another 25, just guessing. They're no slouches.

I let out, and tried to catch him at the exit he got off at to see if he was stock, but he was more brave than I and I lost him.

He's probably lost to a couple V2s and thought he would hit up a bolt-on V1 to make himself feel better, haha. He's like "Fuuuq, all these damn Cadddies are blown!"

you should put your mods in your sig you had me all optimistic for a bit lol. A co-worker of mine is spending one of his paychecks a month to lease a new M3 and we're going to race once we get our summer tires back on.

bone stock m3/4s trap 119-120, so i'm not surprised it stayed with you even if it was stock, They put the same power to the tires as a c7 vette and have dual clutch gearboxes as well... If only they did not sound like a 80 year old with IBS... Great job keeping up with the 90k German sport sedan!!

Your mods sound exactly the same as mine and I'm at 507 rwhp. Yea he probably wasn't stock. Nice kill regardless...

Base price of $65k (I'm sure no one pays that), but yes, looks like they trap 119. So actually he would hang with an intake/tune V2 as well. I remember seeing a video of one with exhaust and I agree, sounds turribul.

yeh the base is in the 65k range but most of them come out around 85-95.. Just like how the c7 z06 id base in the 70k range, but its at its best in the 100k range since most people buying them want the nice interior and z07 package. My next door neighbor has a m4 and his was 90k+, i remember seeing the sticker when he was test driving it

The exhaust is really bad stock... This vid i took with my iphone actually makes it sound better than it does in real life which surprised me, but i'm still not a fan of the sound

From a higher roll, I'd expect stock M4 to be faster than both stock V1 and V2. New M3\M4 turbo setup is pretty ****** serious business. Not surprised if a stock M4 held off a maggied V1, or bolt on V2.

It impressed me, first one I've ever seen, and didn't know what it was till I googled it when I got home. I thought it was a 335 retractable hard top with M badges at first. Wish I would have got a vid. My car is border line obnoxious loud, and this car was loud enough that I still heard it even with my car at WOT. After all was said and done, I'm just glad he couldn't pass me.
mods now in sig

It looked like it still had paper "drive out" tag on it, so I don't know if it was stock, but it was I could to do to stay in front, and that may have been bc I hit it before him.
