Default I need a driveshaft CV.

Does anyone have a used driveshaft CV that they are willing to part with? I need the inner race, ball bearings, outer race and outer cap.

Thanks,
Brian

If you would prefer to discuss offline drop me a PM. I may be in a similar situation.

Last time I dropped my DSS I had 2 bolts per CV joint that had grease on them. Hoping its not going to be a problem.

So what lead the little bird to suggest that a Touareg driveshaft might work? Presumably one would remove the CV(s) from the VW driveshaft to install onto the V's driveshaft? Is there a reason we think that would work?

They are very similar, share the same design, and are just as pricey in eBay and such. I haven't got my hands on one to spec the CV internals but its the closest one to the V shaft I have found. Easier to obtain for parts if they match. I'll have a touareg shaft in a couple weeks to confirm. <---- that said about the main driveshaft... The ebay link posted about is the touareg front shaft and the CV joints look very similar to the V rear joint.

Tested on my STS-V. Not the same. I know it's not a CTS-V but I think the driveshaft should have the same CV joint.

The bolt pattern is the same as the Volkswagen CV but the spline count and shaft diameter are not the same. The Touareg has a 1.075" 26 spline end, my STS-V has a 1.030" 32 spline end.

If someone wants to try the Touareg CV joint on a CTS-V I'll sell you the joint for $50 shipped.

Which touareg shaft did you get? We have a front shaft on the bench and have yet to disassemble to check it out.

I was at a Touareg driveshaft specialist and we have both driveshaft side by side and the measurements of the boots, bolt circle rear cv and middle bearing are the same!

Next time i will go to him and make everything new, then i will report here what happend, if it works with Touareg parts, you can buy them at single pieces here in german ebay!

Best regards,
Ronald

Very cool. Is spline count the same, though?

Sorry, i didnīt know that, but we will see, when i disassemble the driveshaft!

Here is a similar link to ebay, stiffer middle bearing/bushing, boot and grease, the middle bearing has to adapt to the CTS-V bracket via welding 2 Points or something like that:

Correction....the factory touareg center CV boots are .2mm smaller inner diameter and can be worked onto the V shaft...those aftermarket touareg CV boots are a little tighter AND the sides are a good 1/8" longer so to fit on a V shaft they need to be machined/ground down. At least the aftermarket touareg CV boots we checked in hand. We eventually ordered correct spec CV boots for the V for our use.

Also...from what I've read on the touareg forums, the aftermarket carriers don't hold up that well. And as I'm sure several guys here can attest, getting the center to seal correctly is a nightmare without proper tooling. Couple parts missing from those kits that are required too.

They look the same from the outside, yes. The spline count and diameter are likely not the same.

Why donīt change the whole rear part from a Touareg driveshaft and connect at the middle bearing to the CTS-V front shaft, length was also the same i remember, but there can be the next Problem, is spline count and diameter here the same???

We will see, many options btw, hope i can realize it in next 2 month!

Best regards,
Ronald

So, some good news here guys, ALL Touareg parts from the prop shaft will fit on CTS-V !!!

I did it on mine in a shop and can tell you about it!

I have now changed rear cv-joint, 1. bec of a damaged boot in the rear which was very suspect for me and i wanna make sure it holds up at a speed of 250+ kph and 2. i see a hole in the surface where the ***** are turning (didnīt make a pic of it), so i have now oem GKN manufacturer from the shaft cv-joint and boot in the rear!

The middle bearing is new with stronger bushing made of rubber, so installed on the Touareg to last longer then their oem part, same trouble like ours and a new boot with O-ring inside which also fits like oem!

At last, i got new balancing from the whole part and next week i can tell you, how it works!

Some pics:

Now how to change the bracket:

Use a 5mm drill to open up the oem welding spots:

Some pics of dismantled prop shaft:

Here you can order all of your needed parts to make this action done:

http://www.ebay.de/itm/291033268704?...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Then you must go to a shop or mechanic who would be able to force off old middle bearing from shaft and someone who weld the old bracket to the new bearing, thats it, no longer worry about damaging the boot by changing the bearing, all parts are avaible on ebay.de, every single boot or bearing!

Best regards,
Ronald
