Default Engine Mounts/Rubber OEM Knock-Offs - Any Luck ?

So my car is approaching the mileage when I've read I should expect to need engine mounts replaced.

I've read everything I could find about the aftermarket urethane replacements available - and their shortcomings which appear many.

Dealership prices on such an item are a non starter so I found some aftermarket rubber goo-filled knock-offs of the OE mounts - slightly less than half the cost of new OEM mounts.

Surely someone has tried these aftermarket rubber mounts - feedback would be much appreciated.

I looked into these mounts when I decided my urethane mounts were just too stiff for my taste. The only difference I could see is one of the line up pins dosent exist on the replacement mounts, I believe they were anchor brand. When I almost pulled the trigger on them a pair of OEM brand new ones showed up in the classifieds for the price of the anchors and I snatched them up. I got good at changing those mounts and it takes me longer to jack the car up and get the stands under it than to change the mounts....

Is it really worth the savings to wonder how long knock offs will last? Buy once cry once and i wouldnt even cry.....mounts are cheap in the grand scheme of things.

Couldn't agree more. But that only apply's assuming the OEM part is a good reliable part. In the motor mount's case I've read a few different places including here of people getting 10K miles out of set of factory mounts.

If that's the case... what are the chances the cheaper knock-offs won't go that long or longer ?

If OE turns out to be a better part than something like Anchor brand as mentioned above - I'm all over it. Hope not though.

I second his Creative Steel mount suggestion or UMI. They are WAY better then OEM. You are also putting a lot more stress on the mounts due to the maggie etc.

UMIs suck for a daily in my experience. I also believe the lack of compliance they exhibit will magnify any driveline vibs you have.

Bought a set of the softest creative steel mounts on sale. Hope that's the ultimate compromise.

I'm running the "stage 1" CS mounts and while I did notice a drop in vibes from their street mounts, I still have a very noticeable vibration from 1800 to 2100rpm, but it sounds like a fair amount of people do. The CS trans mount is partly responsible for that, but overall it's not bad.

the UMI's don't suck at all for daily driving. i've put 20k miles on them in the last year and i'm totally cool with it. i also have the CS poly trans mount. no complaints about vibrations so long as i'm not lugging the car in 6th gear below 1000rpm.

I'm glad they worked good for you but "IN MY EXPERIENCE", the UMIs suck for a daily.

A little under 3 years daily driven on my UMI's. Love em. Buy them once and forget about it. I was amazed how much more stable the car felt going over speed humps, etc, the motor must have been moving all over the place with stockers. Yes, they add vibes and noise, but you bought a performance car so let it feel like one.

30,000 hard miles on my 95a Revshift motor mounts.. and what do you know, no horror stories. Very good mounts and relativiely easy to install, just make sure to install the trans mount too. Also used the revshift trans insert.. on a 200,000 miles oem trans mount.

I have the CS mounts and have no complaints. They are very good for maintaining a smooth idle and didn't add any additional vibrations. You can feel the difference in the throttle pedal as it becomes much more direct and they take away all of the engine rocking. They are also the best designed mounts of that style. I've put 20k maggie miles on mine so far and haven't had any issues with them. Highly recommended!

I had the engine out at 19,000 miles. The motor mounts were split 80% of the circumference. Opened like an egg and that **** fluid went everywhere.
CS Blacks ever since.
Have any Gen2s ever had motor mount issues? man this car is a piece of crap... but I love it.

GREAT FEEDBACK guys ! Thanks much for your input !

Hearing about folks getting 20K-30K out of their Urethane mounts is promising.

But how about aftermarket Rubber mounts ? Apparently nobody uses them which surprises me. Maybe I should take note of that fact.....

Still interested to hear from "rubber" users.... but the urethane guys have my attention.

You can pick these up for $31.00 on amazon right now http://www.amazon.com/Anchor-3149-En...ustomerReviews. There is even another seller listing them for $23.00. If i didn't already have umi mounts I'd be tempted to try these. It sounds like they may be liquid filled like oem. Apparently they are also good for killing zombies when launched out of a bazooka.

Yes, they do. People "say" they will hold up to 700hp, but our car has both of them blown with only 80k.
