Default McLeod RST Clutch in V1, which slave?

Is anyone running this clutch? I have it coming sometime this week. I'm wondering what slave will be needed (I'm assuming the LS7), but wondering if I should order the Tick shim/spacer kit. Would like to know before I put it in and measure and have to wait for them to ship it.

Naw, you run the shorter slave with twin plate clutches usually. I think B-Ruck used to run an RST...definitely some others, though.

edit: yes, LS7/C6 works

it doesn't have anything to do with the single mass flywheel replacing the dual?

Maybe the LS9 is thicker than other twin plates, but the LS9 slave is the same size as the stock V slave, and that's with a single mass flywheel.

Well that's what I get for not searching...it looks like Vette guys are running stock slave, however....I've seen more than a couple posts about blowing up the stock slave because of preload. Sounds like you might need to measure the stack-up height and go from there.

Looks like the LS9 is the only twin plate one that uses the short style slave. Interesting.

The LS9 is pretty thick even for a twin. My Exedy twin uses the LS7 slave with no shims.

The LS7 is what you need. Someone previously mentioned that the vette guys were having issues w/ pre-load using that slave. I did in fact have pre-load measurements before I installed it. I ended up dissasembling the slave and shaving down the internal plastic sleeve which allowed the slave to compress more allowing for proper spacing. Basically the exact opposite of 'shimming'. It worked flawlessly for a good while now and looked great when I took it out!

Yeah, and it looks like some guys went with the LS9 slave and had a large custom shim made. That's a lot more expensive, though...

If you put a huge shim in you end up having to notch the bell housing and/or trans and it just turns in to a pain in the ***. And yea, it would be a huge shim to essentially make a V slave the same height as a LS7 slave.

On that note, anyone wanna trade me good a factory slave for my LS7 slave? I need a stock one

Because of the trimming? I measured mine and it came to with in spec, albeit on the lower (tighter) tolerance.

Totally unrelated. I have a built trans in my car now which actually required me to to BACK to a V-slave and a shim with this clutch. Long story short I have the LS7 slave sitting around and need a V slave for my daily
