Default 2006 w/83k for $17k or 2005 w/55k for $18k?

I'm looking at two one-owner cars, both seeming to be in excellent condition. All else being the same, would you choose a 2006 with 83k for $17k or a 2005 with 55k for $18k?

Thanks for the input!

I have a 05 the only reason I would buy a 06 07 in my opinion is my ls3 swap would be easier but you will be happy with both

What do you plan on doing to the car?

I think the LS2 Motor in the 06-07's has more power potential, not to mention you can swap LS3 heads on. You cant do so with the LS6 unfortunately.

Honestly, I'll probably just do a full exhaust and a tune (but everyone knows that's where it starts). I'm planning on buying a V2 or a Z06 in 1-2 years.

Looks like you have quite a bit of experience with both, owning an '05 with a swap. Care to elaborate on why?

I think its a trend in the market. Not just for V's, but for cars that are less than 10-15 year old that were super badass when they came out (with big price tags) and have now depreciated to an affordable rate without being run into the ground. Remember, when these cars came out, they were around 50k I believe, The fact you can get them now at less than 50% of their original value and most times under 60k miles, is incredible.

Then you have 30 year olds (like myself) who drooled over these cars when they came out, but could never afford, but now that were "adults" with "jobs" we can afford the 250-500 a month car payment.

Other cars in this realm
-E46 M3
-350z
-Audi S4
-V8 M5's
-C5 Z06
-2002 Cobra's (Deathwish)
-S2000's

Just that. I have an 05 with an 06-07 engine. I mean, kinda figured that out on your own there.....

I agree with all for sure

But, as far as cars go - The only cars I'd take over the older V is the newer V or a G8

I have a 04 GTO too, but the V still seems to be an up from it

I waited until I came across my 2006 just because the LS2, better rear end, and less button peeling problems. Go with the 06 IMO!!

The 06 should retain its value (marginally) better and has one less year of wear-n-tear. This is all quantitative speculation though. It could very well be in worse shape than the 05 depending on how it was treated.

LS6 in a heartbeat. Far less oil consumption.

2006 simply for the better diff and subframe bushings. Let alone the better head options.

Like he said. I'd recommend the '06 for better diff and axles and less prone to wheelhop rear subframe bushing. Plus I think the '06 gets steering wheel volume controls too.

Although I do like the LS6 better there are much more aftermarket options for the LS2 to make lots of power if you ever go down that route.
