T56 leaking from some random spot :(
Ok guys so I recently changed the transmission fluid and it started leaking from somewhere that I cannot pinpoint.
Here are a few pics of the damage. I can tell you it is not from the drain or refill plug, or the output shaft seal. Seems to be coming from somewhere higher??
Let me know if you want any more pics of a specific area.
Thanks in advance.

I was going to say the vent, but that sits farther forward, above the bell housing. It could be coming out of the selector arm cover (might not be correct term for it). It's what the shifter linkage attaches to that goes into the transmission to actually select gears. When I pulled my trans, the gasket material wasn't in good shape, and I think it leaked from there a bit. As far as I could tell, my trans had never been out, either.

After a longer drive last night it started leaking again . Clearly looked like it was coming from the reverse light switch.
I pulled the switch out and the teflon tape/sealant that was on it was old and just about non-existent. I re-taped it and and re-cleaned everything underneath;I have to go to class here in a little, once I get it back home it will go back in the air so I can see if that cured it. Fingers crossed.

Since I recall you just got the car, had you done any recent trans fluid maintenance?
Edit: I read your update from other thread and saw that you did. There's a good chance you overfilled slightly and this is the transmission's way of spitting it back out. I did it to a 4L60E back in the day with the same result, but it was more apparent that it was coming from the vent tube.

I actually just got back from class. Did a bunch of stop and go and highway driving and it is completely dry.
I am hoping it is all good now.

This is what I'm thinking. Just changing the fluid shouldn't have created a leak where there was none before.

Well I thought I smelled burning ATF last night and when I pulled the V out of the garage this morning there was a massive trans oil spill
I know for sure I did not overfill it. I am going to get it in the air right now and see what it looks like. Starting to frustrate me.

Here's some more pics.
It is definitely not overfilled. I got it up in the air on a level surface and its not even dripping out of the fill plug. I was able to put my finger in there in feel the fluid.
It is only leaking from the passenger side, and somewhere up top closer to the bellhousing. It is now leaking bad enough that it is making its way all the back to the end of the transmission and onto the exhaust pipes back there.
Any other suggestions?

That is what I am thinking. Is it accessible without pulling the trans? I can't get to it from underneath.
Also, I managed to snap the reverse light switch but luckily my buddy has a spare t56 laying around and he is going to bring me the switch tonight.

looks a lot like my trans, and it was from the vent... i stopped worrying after awhile, fluid level was perfect and the trans shifted perfect and it never once dripped a drop....

I am going to just let it be for a little while. I have a feeling it's from the vent. I replaced the reverse light switch and no leaks out of that now.

Well for a 3 month update, the transmission has continued to leak non-stop. Today after a long highway drive I came to a stop and I could smell burning ATF coming out of my vents. It now completely covers my exhaust, x-member, and basically the entire underside of the car all the way back to the rear diff.
I am going to get it up in the air today and check the fluid level to see where it's at. I am going to wait until I get a clutch for it before I pull the trans.
