LS9 Clutch Failure
One of the disks exploded, downshifted to 3rd to make a pass on the freeway and BOOM.
Does anyone have any details about our bellhousing, I'd really like to buy an SFI bellhousing at this point. I've heard our bellhousing is deeper? But I'm pretty sure we share an input shaft with the GTO? Is there bellhousing also deeper?

Is the bell housing toasted too?
Man am I glad I never dealt with the his clutch. I understand that it is running just fine in many vehicles and all that is well and good. But I see and hear wayyyyy too much about them failing. At a frequency higher that any other clutch. Sucks OP.
And naf if there was a bearing issue it would still be showing itself. So Op be sure to check our trans. As for the improper install that's a load. How? If it was installed wrong it would have had problems from mile one.

I am in charge of maintenance for trucks. I have seen and heard it all...
It could have been a misalignment of the center disc during installation. Or just a defective clutch disc. The slave could have been pressing on the clutch fingers even though there was no pressure from the master cylinder.
