Default Water in Doors?

I haven't driven my car in a while, and it sits outside in my driveway. It rained about 2" in 24 hours here (sorry to brag west coasters) so today when I went to put the new insurance card in it, I happened to open the front passenger door and gallons of water poured out. I think the damn door was full to the top. Why wouldn't this drain with the door closed? I've never seen this on a modern car. Only my 83 mustang convertible with the bad top and a few pounds of gunk in the bottom of the doors blocking the drains. It seems like the weather stripping actually blocks the drain holes. Wtf GM?

Anyone experienced something like this?

I have, in my case it was blocked drains.

Cleaned them out, and all has been well since.

I'll have to take a closer look but it seemed to me that the weather stripping blocks the drains on its own. Maybe since mines sat so long they just got stuck and the water didn't seep past like it's supposed to? There was a good bit of muck behind the weather stripping since I had been DDing it for the last 3 years. The holes themselves seemed clear though.

My car is parked outside 365. It has sat through some recent biblical downpours. I have never noticed anything other than water dripping off the outer skin when opening the door and small, acceptable amounts of water on or near the rocker sills. Perhaps is your window not sealing firmly against the horizontal weather strip along the outside of the door? I could easily see large amounts of water getting into the door via that route as it rolls down the glass.

I'm sure that's how it gets in but does yours hold water with the door closed and then pour out when you open it?

When mine had water in it, it only emptied after I cleaned the drains.

I heard it slosh around when I opened it.

The drains are under the weather strip. This area fills with muddy road grime and plugs the drains. Clean this area out, and it won't happen again for a while. For whatever the reason, its always the passenger front on my car also.

That's exactly what I found. I'll check it after the weekend. It's supposed to monsoon again Friday night.

My trunk lid fills up with water after a lengthy rain. I can hear it sloshing around in the panel, but never see it come out although I assume it eventually does.

Mine did that before an accident repair. Doesn't anymore.

Moving the weatherstripping on the bottom area causes all the water to come on.

Mine used to do that too. Here is the link to the method I followed to cure it. http://www.jon04ctsv.com/rear_bezel/

I had this issue, I'm considering taking the door panels off to clean them out properly.
