1 piece driveshaft shop driveshaft install question When I install my 1 piece driveshaft from the driveshaft shop do I use the factory rubber piece between the driveshaft and the trans?? |
The best way to install it is right back into the box and get a refund.. Just kidding just kidding... You should have adapters that go on both ends, one of which will replace the rubber disc. Keep this thread updated if you have vibrations after install. |
Don't hate on the one piece...with a little effort, mine works better than my 2 piece ever did....at 3 times the cost, I'll give you that. The one piece uses 2 adapters, one that bolts to the transmission and one that bolts to the differential. When I got my first one piece, they forgot my adapters so I got those and then I figured out that they forgot the "grease covers" which helps center the joints on the adapters. Of course, I had no idea I was missing these parts becuase there was no shipping list or instructions that came with this. More details can be found here.... https://ls1tech.com/forums/cadillac-...options-4.html However, I think they did you a disservice selling you an aluminum one piece. IIRC, you had to take the fuel tank heat shield off for clearance and the shaft also had clearance issues with the exhaust but I'm sorry, that's bullshit. I'd pack it up, send it back and get the carbon one piece which fit mine like a glove. EDIT...oops, wrong guy, DOHCsky got the aluminum one piece... https://ls1tech.com/forums/cadillac-...bration-8.html |

Hey now I wasn't hating.. Just making a tongue in cheek joke.. I answered his question as well. |
Honestly, you're service is a godsend if i hadn't inherited the one piece in a deal, I wouldn't have bought it outright. Only after hours of dicking with it have I got it right.... |
onebad did you ever get the axle out? or find out what was up with the diff? |
Got the driveshaft in, it took a little work to get it aligned right. Never got the axle out or was able to find out what was wrong with the other differential. I need to get mine back together so I am focusing on that as of now. |
No issues with vibrations or rubbing as of yet with my 1 piece. Super happy with it overall. I haven't gotten my exhaust back on so that will be the true test |

Aluminum one, I couldn't afford the carbon fiber one |
How do you like the one piece? Still going strong no issues? Waiting on my to be shipped out should be in the next couple days and then ahead with the install. |
