+ rotors right? I guess you can re-drill the 6-lugs but centering might be hard since the 5-lug stuff has a slightly smaller center bore. Do I have that wrong?

the center bore is the same as the hubs you're going to be using. and yes, redrilling the stock rotors. otherwise if you use camaro front rotors and camaro/V2 rear rotors your parking brake no longer works unless you use the camaro/V2 parking brake, too.

i've got a fully functional setup with all new parts, but you don't have to spend that much money if you don't want/need to. i wanted to put new brakes on the car anyway so i did it the expensive, replace everything way.

edit because i've already written it out a couple times...

Ok. I think I understand. I figured there was still a bore difference but that was based on the V2 front swap(and staying 6-lug) which requires bore enlargement on the rotor.

correct, sir. the V1 and C5 have the same bore hubs (70.3mm), whereas the fifth gen camaro and V2 have a smaller one (66.9mm).

however, i have yet to hold the V1 and CTS hubs in my hands to compare them. if they bolted right in, or required very little work to bolt in, the 5x115 bolt pattern (able to use 5x114.3 wheels) would be vastly superior to the 5x120.65 bolt pattern (can run 5x120 wheels, too) on the vette hubs. it'd be neat if someone would compare for the rest of us, heh.

I've been telling everyone for ages that running 5x120 is retarded. There are better options for rotors and wheels at the smaller bolt circle. I use 5x115 SKF X-Tracker hubs with ARP M12 fasteners to compensate for the 20% additional shear stress on the lug bolts.

Question.... If one was going to spend 1K+ on brakes and hubs so that one could have a better selection of wheels... why wouldn't you just save allllll that time and spend that 1k on top of what you'd already spend on wheels to get a custom 3pc set?

It seems to me the brakes on our cars are amazing... (granted i don't road course the car or anything along those lines) maybe I'm missing a strong point, so I had to ask.

I'm not converting...yet but it occurs to me that if/when you want to change wheels again, there is a smaller market for the 6x115 and so you stand to lose more value and then the next set might cost you even more. There are also nice, real cheap OEM and OEM replica options I believe that will then fit when converted.

Now, that's not to say we wouldn't be circling like rabid piranhas if such a set were listed but around here I wouldn't expect top dollar because...limited market...and we are mostly a bunch of cheap-asses at heart.

Good point! you also, made me realize another valid point! if one were to ever to SELL their set of custom (6x115) wheels there would be ALOT less of a market!

if you're going to buy one set of wheels and keep them swapping doesn't make any sense.

if you're going to cycle through wheels each season like a ***** (me, maybe) then swapping makes a lot of sense.

there is no need for all that in FL, thats why i was wondering why people spend sooo much to swap over.. I was like ill spend that extra money on my shweels to have some super nice wheels that are also 6x115. Never thought about the guys like you who have to swap for different sets of tires with changing of the seasons... speaking of seasons!!! that is the biggest thing i miss about Texas!! down here, you never get to see the seasons change!

i personally do have two sets of wheels, one set for winter with winter tires.

i could have done that with a set of stock wheels, too. however, i didn't want to be limited to the wheel choices in 6x115 so i swapped. and whenever i want to sell my wheels and buy a new set i won't have such a hard time with it.

I might have a couple hubs from my old 06 base sitting in my garage I could try out...I'll have to see if I threw them away or not. I always wondered why people went the vette route and not just the base...I don't imagine gm would change too much between the two but I could be wrong.

Those are really nice. Not *too* expensive either. What brake package are you ending up with?
