Default 2006 brake cooling duct

Last night I installed a new fender liner. I decided that in the interest of completeness I would install the duct between the bumper air inlet and the opening in the fender liner. I don't need any additional brake cooling -- just want everything to be as complete as possible.

Since then I've exhausted all of the google search variations I could come up with as well as looked at the GM online parts explosions and have found zip, zero, zilch, nada. I can find the duct listed for 2009 and up but nothing for the older cars.

Do any of you folks know if there's even one available or not and, if so, what the part number is?

Thanks in advance for your help.

One guy said "Why would you want to direct all that water [when its raining] onto your brakes?" Hmmm... That's a good question. I doubt that wetting your brakes was one of Cadillac's design criteria but even in the later model cars where I did find the ducting I don't see what would keep it from routing the rain water directly onto your brakes.

Anyway, whether I do it or not I'd at least like to find out if the ducts were even available for the V1s and, if so, where to find the info.

Btw, just as an aside, does anyone know if there is supposed to be any kind of cover over those three big cable plugs?

not saying this is the best place to buy them but this link should show you what's what...

https://www.wholesalegmpartsonline.c...roduct=3030290

Looks like the part numbers are RH 15140710 ; 25750630 and LH 15140709 ; 25750629

All are under $20 each.

Dang, you're good. You know, I looked at this earlier and when I read the description for item #3 it said it was for the 2007. Since many times item numbers are repeated for LH and RH applications I didn't look at the second #3 -- just made a bad assumption and moved on.

Thanks for taking your time to find these for me.

I'll call this thread Solved.

They direct nothing to your brakes, every once and a while a set of carbon fiber ones come up for sale that actually route to the brake rotors

Sorry for not being more specific. I was just referring to the fact that the stock ones -- not the ones that have ducting all the way over to the wheel -- would be directing forced air/water into the wheel well area which would most likely get to the rotor/caliper/pads as well. Perhaps not much though since it looks like the tire would be in the most direct path.

I think I will put the stock ducts on so that I won't have to remember that something is missing every time I look at that hole in the liner.

Dang, the only place I found them was at that wholesalegmpartsonline link so I placed an order yesterday and got an order confirmation. This morning they sent me a note cancelling the order because the parts have been discontinued and none are left in stock.

I'll keep looking...

Going to have to hit salvage yards or email them pictures until you find one, unless you can get lucky on ebay or amazon with the PNs.

Try here? https://www.gmpartsnow.com/oem-parts/gm-duct-15140710

Yes, it appears that you're right. A few places purport to have the right hand side (p/n 15140710) but all of them say that the left side (p/n 15140709) is a discontinued part.

I'll start fishing around the various V boards and some salvage yards in this area.

You could make the right side work on the left if you rotate it 180 I would think.

That sounds like it might work. If I don't find a LH one pretty quick I'll give that a shot.

Thanks.

Every time I have had mine off I always have the stupid though that they should be side specific, there is a indent molded into the side that connects to the bumper that could be easily pressed into the other side or just cut a notch so it has something to catch on.

I can't find anything at all on what those numbers after the duct part numbers is for. Is there a retainer, clip, clamp, etc. that you have to have to install the ducts? Is that what these two numbers are?

There are no clips or retainers. It's just a slip fit duct.

At the leading end, where it connects to the duct below the fogs/DRLs, mine had little push-pin type connectors that went in from the bottom. Kinda like the ones that hold the fender liners in place, but the head of the pin was ~1/2 as big. With that said, I don't see that indicated on the parts diagram here - https://www.wholesalegmpartsonline.c...rimLevel=25926. And you don't really need those pins - the duct can't go anywhere even without the pin in place, since it's sandwiched between the fog/DRL duct and the fender liner.

The trailing end of the duct just snaps into place in the fender liner.

Thanks AAIIC -- that's helpful to know.

@jmilz28: Yes, I could and will if I have to but prefer the OEM ones if possible. I found a "recycler" back east who has just gotten in a 2006 V with both front fenders intact. When they do the parts pull on it, if the ducts are there and in good repair, they're gonna sell them to me. Fingers crossed...
