2005 Clutch Shudder when cold
Car is mostly stock. Stock (original) motor, clutch, trans, rear, exhaust manifolds. High flow cats, B&B catback, minor adjustments with HPTUNERS. 52k miles give or take.
Issue is I recently started daily driving it after keeping it garaged for a few years. When it’s cold out (freezing or below) and the car isn’t warmed up, it shudders pretty awfully when taking off on a slight uphill. I don’t know that I’ve driven it under those conditions exactly before so I’m not sure if this is new behavior or not.
Does anyone recall a similar issue? Should I start pricing out a clutch replacement or is it kind of normal?

Sounds like your slave may be leaking some fluid on the disc or the DMF may be coming apart. My best guesses anyhow...either requires dropping the tranny to sort. If I had to do it over, I would go OEM clutch or Monster kit and have the tranny fully inspected while it's out.

Good input. I’m certainly not going exploring myself. I have a super short commute, flexible job and AAA so I can wait till it stops working before I bother fixing it.
Funny you mention clutch fluid. I did leak some down through the clutch when trying to bleed the slave a couple years ago. Never had any symptoms but knew it may accelerate the demise eventually. If it goes I’ll just replace the clutch, flywheel and slave all at the same time with new OEM stuff. I’m not dicking around after all the goofy stories on clutch swaps here lol. I’m ok with the stocker.

This is normal on my car for the first 1 to 3 clutch applies until the friction material is warmed up some. Cold and Hot ambient temps on flat ground. I'm somewhere around 40k miles on stock clutch.

Now that I think about it, sounds JUST like when my burb's rear drum brakes have wheel cylinders leak fluid on the shoes = shudder. Typically will go away after a few stops. Similar masses, similar friction surfaces, same fluid too. Bet your slave is leaking on the clutch disc now that I think about it. If it were oil, I would think it wouldn't go away so easily.

Mine chatters also, but it seems to have more to do with humidity than cold. After it warms up, it's fine. After a dry day and driving, it's fine until the next humid or rainy day. It's been like this for the last 4-5 years and 60,000 miles. The clutch has 120,000 miles.
