Default Windshield trim - center top

is there supposed to be something sealing the two ends of the rubber windshield gasket? Do you guys have a gap and exposed metal ends on that thing?

Mine is wavy as heck, bit there's no gap there. Mine is aftermarket, as the windshield was replaced

Mine is absolutely original. Think it just shrunk that much?? No cap in the middle?

Does it look like it tore apart? Because the original part is a single piece all the way across the top. It's part # 25680777 and only costs $20-30. (Part #10 here.)

Yeah thanks. That’s likely what happened. Must be that secret GM plastic that shrinks 10% every 10 years. Is it hard to change? Snap out snap in? Will I break something more expensive if I try?

Mine looks exactly like that and I am about 99.9999% sure it is original as well

Regarding this car, the answer is almost always "yes." If the answer is no, it's because you already broke the expensive something.

This is the most honest thing I have ever read on the internets

It should be really easy to replace. Should be, mine was easy for about 75% of the length. But, near the driver side a pillar they used too much sealant for the windshield. Initially they must have this trim on when they place the glass because when I removed the trim the sealant was formed around it. Pulling the old out was a non issue. But, there was no way to get the new one to slot into the sealant based on the compound shape.

I had to try and cut out some sealant carefully avoiding the glass and paint. In the end, lots of soap and some careful tapping with a small drift got it to seat into the slot I opened up.

the passenger side took less time to install than it took to open the package.

With the exception of something like PLA TIME mentioned, it should be pretty painless to replace. I've done it once or twice in the years I've owned mine.

I got it. Not too tough, was definitely glued in on the drivers side but wasn’t too tough to pop out and the new piece went in smoothly.
