Long story short, the hose pictured below somehow popped off and I lost all braking. I zip tied it back and was good to go for the time being.

I'd like to know if that's just a vacuum line and if I just need to get a proper hose clamp to keep it tied down. I didn't notice any fluid that leaked out and my brake fluid reservoir hadn't lost anything so my conclusion was that it is a vacuum line.

That is the brake booster vacuum line. If it becomes disconnected you'll lose all vacuum assistance for braking which you already discovered. Hopefully you can get it secured with a new clamp.

My 06 has no clamp from the factory either. I accidently knocked it off while working on the car once but it is very noticeable at idle. It was also very loose before I replaced it this last winter. New hose is from a V2 and it is very tight.

It is just a vacuum line. The thing it plugs into is a one way valve.

A zip tie will work just fine (both ends!) unless the hose has swelled to the point you can't tighten a zip tie around it.
