Default Thinking of trading up for an 05 V.

Hey guys, I'm thinking about trading my 06 Impala SS for an 05 CTS-V. I like my Impala alot, but I'm really not digging the FWD setup, and its going to take alot of money to get it where I want it to be as far as performance goes. The V has 11k miles on it, and its that light blue color. It runs great, has plenty of power. What really amazed me was how great it handles, and how stable it feels when you get on the brakes. The dealer wants $34,900 for it, is this reasonable?

Thanks Guys!

I've been thinking of doing the same. parting out all of my stuff and getting a CTS-V.

The only real negatives that I've heard of in regards to the V is the rear end is even worse than that of an Fbody (easier to break) and that the gas mileage sucks.

Well as you know a car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. It is a car that you will buy and drive it everyday and be happy with it. Or it is a car that you will buy. Talk with guys here and other forums and just want to Mod the crap out of. To be honest it has its faults and you will read that but it is a addiction. My car is like is my third love. Its crazy! I have never seen any car that has a following like this car. (except the vette's and mustangs). In closing make sure it is certified if you are buying from a cadillac dealer.

About $3k too much. MAKE SURE IT IS CERTIFIED. Compare payments to lease a new one...these cars have terrible resale.

Get them down to 30k. These cars are not easy to sell due to being a stick.

I got a 04 v for 26 thou from a private party. It had the peeling face plate on the nav, dealer replaced for free. ripped battery bag, dealer replaced free, leaking rear pinion, warranty etc. get it? I have never paid thousands for repairs with any of my cars so I took a chance and bought one with a little warranty left and am going for it. I think it was worth it seeing I saved about 10 grand over dealer mark up and taxes. Bring a body man with you though, carfax is an unreliable FARCE.

Thanks for the advice guys, I found another 05 about 15 miles from me for $29,900, this one having 36k miles on it. I'll probably go look at it tomarrow, its a bit more reasonable. Also, how do you think an 05 CTS-V would compare to an 05-06 LS2 GTO? I've heard the LS6 is a bit underrated on power in some cases, and it is a bit lighter than the GTO, so would you think it would be quicker?

The LS6 is a great motor but the LS2 will, of course, be the 6.0 liter.. The 6.0's love mods, but the LS6 motor has more mods available.

As far as weight goes, I think the GTO is a few hundred pounds lighter than the CTSV. W/ the same mods, I say the GTO will be quicker.

You should know what your talking about before you post. Since they are the same motor, in essence, they have the same amount of mods
