Shift light install question 04 CTS-V
 

Helping a buddy install his Raptor shift light sometime in the near future. What are yall piggy backing for the rpm? How are yall running the wires for a clean install? And where are yall mounting the shift light? Pic's of mounted shift lights would be nice :D

I think you have to get the pcm altered by a tuner to make it able to support the shift light. From what I understand they have to tell the computer to send a signal to that part of the pcm.

No PCM change required.

the stealthv way of doing it makes it so you don't need something like the raptor...just an LED.....

I've got my raptor hooked up direct to the pcm, I'll see if I can find the post where it says what wires to hook it up too....as for placement, mines in the center air vent.

heres a pic for ya...thats only a few of the leds on while it's in it's start up sequence...much bright when actually working.

Thanks for straightening me out guys. I have my raptor from my old notch back so I know where it's going now.

nikon: Did you use dbl sided tape of the shift light mount or did you run a screw through the light mount? Looks great man.

neither...just shoved it in there....perfect size...just gotta make sure you push it in enough that the air vent can still operate....the only thing you can't do anymore is shut the airvents off......In florida though, there's no point, so it works out ;)

Anyone with my tune has the shift light turned on in the ecm. I do that automatically on manual cars.

Just got around to installing the Harlan shift light.

FYI The correct tach signal pin for this 2004 CTS-V was pin 10, a solid white wire on the J2 Green harness.

One of the links above says to use pin 47, a solid white wire on the J2 Green harness, that did not work for me!

For the power source I used a extra spot in the fuse box. I used a pre-existing ground spot from the aftermarket alarm system in the door jam.

If anyone is going to install a shift light in their CTS-V and has a question, dont hesitate to send me a pm..... I am not claiming to be the pro! I just don't mind helping someone when I can.
