Default Header Install Tips???

So I ordered some headers for my V2. Does anyone have any tips for install? It is a '14 coupe A6 and the headers are trick flow if that helps. I bought MLS gaskets and ARP bolts already along with 100 Ft of heat wrap. Just looking for any advice for ease of install.

you mean Heads, not headers. Trick Flow doesn't make headers for these cars.

Doing the heads isn't to bad on these cars. What are you going to do with heat wrap?

My apologies they are trick flow made by stainless works. But I am putting some headers on not heads. Any suggestions on header install?

It was the easiest header install I have ever done. Trickiest part is the steering column. You have to remove 2 bolts to pull the steering shaft out. DO NOT TURN THE STEERIG WHEEL OR THE WHEELS while the shaft is out. It will screw up the stabilitrack. If you do that then it'll have to go back to the dealer for an expensive recal.

Oh yeah, the oil dipstick and tube need to come out and finding the hole to put it back in can be a PITA. The tube comes with a new longer bolt and a spacer, it will be tricky and your gonna wish you had another pair of hands...just take it slow and take a break if you get frustrated. Your gonna have to remove coil packs and spark plugs. Might as well order a new set of factory ac Delco wires too because they will probably tear taking the factory ones off. Don't use any loctite or never seize on the header bolts.

Thanks for the tips Turbo 5.0. Hopefully I don't tear the wires the car only have 5k miles on it so hopefully they haven't stuck to the plugs as bad. One question I had was will I need O2 sensor extensions. I haven't received the headers yet so I can't really see where the O2 bung is in the header except for in the pictures online and it appears they are down stream a ways. I got the catted headers if that makes a difference.

If you are buying the headers new, then the extensions will come with them. If I recall correctly, the extensions will go on the front sensors, and the rears will be plenty long enough already.

Roughly how high were you guys taking the car? I'm guessing I'll need taller than 3 ton jack stands (prob some 6ton for height). Hell, on my 01 Camaro I needed 27 inches from bottom of K to garage floor

I took mine up a good bit, using 2 ton jack stands. The headers slipped right in and didn't come close to hitting the ground while installing at all.
