Canadian guys

Hi everyone!

just wondering if anybody on this site has shipped up a car[camaro\firebird] from the US recently that is modified?? meaning performeance modifications...

i called border crossings and they said that if a car is altered from stock, it is not allowed in Canada.

if anyone knows any info on this, would be much appreciated!!

thanks

I've bought 2 camaros from the states with no problems. Both cars were modified. The border services guy even comemented on the roll cage when they verified the VIN.
Just make sure you have all your RIV paper work ready when you bring the car across.
pm if you want a couple pointers. I learned something interesting bringing the last car over.

I've brought up 4 vehicles from the states. Only 2 were bone stock, the other 2 had mods done. Never had any issues at all.

when where the cars shipped???....recently?? did any of these cars have superchargers or turbo's??

fastcars95 07-06-2012 10:41 AM

My car was twin turbo.

fastcars95 07-06-2012 10:44 AM

Both cars in my signature came from the states. I'll pm u later. I'm not in front of a computer now. I did not ship them. We trailered them across

I brought in a H/C/I no cats car. They asked me to get on the gas leaving the border so they could hear it. Don't sweat it.

I had all my vehicles trucked up to Grand Forks North Dakota which is a 2 hour drive from my house. 2 of the vehciles my wife drove while I drove the original vehicle. The other 2 I trailered up. Zero problems at all. One vehicle is turbo charged ( Typhoon ). The other was a 4x4 with a lift kit and a bunch of other mods. Not sure why the person at the border would tell you it's not allowed modified. That's not their job. That's a RIV thing.

Thanks everyone for the info!!! the last thing i wanted was to buy a car from the US and the border says no.

on the RIV site it says that modified cars are not allowed from the uS to Canada... even if you bought the car in the Canada and sent it to the US to have a supercharger installed, RIV said no!

maybe I talked to a new guy there or something, who nows. it seems that you guys had no problems

moving back to BC after being state side. returning with my tj wrangler i bought in the us. What do i have to do to register it in Canada?

Stormed_Norm 07-10-2012 06:04 PM

www.riv.ca

You should be able to find everthing there. As for the wrangler, daytime running lamps and that should be pretty much about it. ANd a safety that you can get when you get the riv inspection done. At Canadian Tire.

I brought my Turbo camaro and car trailer through North Portal, sask. No issues at all.

Have your paperwork in order and in early.
