Default T56 Transmission Rebuild Shops in Ontario

I'm looking for a reputable transmission shop to rebuild my t56. I live near London, Ont but don't mind driving to the GTA. I know there is already a thread on here regarding this questions but it started in 2005. If anyone has any positive experience with a specific shop or person, let me know please! The American exchange rate right now just sucks!

I heard these guys are great, never been but I probably will go to em I think something in my tranny needs changing.

Couple older guys around town advised me PT is great and these guys I talked to all have real clean oem chevelles trans ams grand nationals etc, they advised me once PT works on your transmission it will never break again so I heard.

Can give them a call If you want.

I haven't rebuilt my trans or anything but Milton Transmission has changed my u joints and removed and installed my carrier bearings before. Happy with their service and I walked into their work area and the benches are all kept very clean and organised which was nice to see.

Thanks for the info guys! Unfortunately it was kind of time sensitive! I ended up taking across the border to d&d performance. Was super torn between then and Tick. D&D was driving distance so I went with them! Haven't picked it up yet but I am dreading the border. When I dropped off the tranny I was coming back into Canada and the CBSA officer explained to me that an officer CAN charge me the taxes on the rebuild and on the price of the tranny. We had a long discussion on the topic and he said most officers aren't aware of this but some CAN tag you with the total sum. Kind of scary to think about. He explained that if the tranny was $2000 to rebuild and it's worth $3000. You COULD HAVE TO pay 13% on $5000 instead of the sole $2000. Let's hope
I don't get dinged with the total.

that doesnt make any sense to pay tax on the price of the tranny. i understand the rebuild cost taxes. I would just show the rebuild cost receipt when you bring it back, they usually wont hassel you if you have a receipt.

Or buy a some clothes at the outlets and forget to mention the tranny, lol.

let us know how the rebuild comes out and what it ended up costing you if you dont mind.
I didnt realize d and d was soo close, I think an American t56 specialist is the way to go, no fucken doubt.

Just have D&D make up the invoice as a complete used transmission for the lowest price they will agree to.Show your invoice and used transmission at the border, pay the HST and don't tell them you brought it down in the first place.

Just got it home last week. Tranny looks and should performing amazing. Don was very thorough with me and explains all the new parts. Ended up being $1800 for basically the same kit as the Tick 2. Paid with cash, was helped out with the receipt a little and no hassle at the border at all. All in all was a very good experience ... so far. Just need to get it back in the car!

Good to hear Greg. Did that include steel 3/4 shift fork and all new bearings and seals. Seams like a good deal for 1800 US, Im going to do the same thing you did when it is time to rebuild mine.

Yea I was looking for shops to do my rebuild and came across the same very old thread. i called a few trusted guys and took my car to John @ TDS transmissions in newmarket. I bought the Tick stage 2 kit with bearing kits, steel fork, seals and 1/2 inner cones.Im having them check my clutch health and the rest of the driveline.Car is there now and im hoping it will be done, back together for friday and not need anything else for parts but I should know by now thats never the case. So far I got 0 complaints. The kit from Tick came in super fast and are quality parts. Once I get the car back and can drive it home Ill post up my experience and the video drive.my trans sounded pretty narly getting up there.
