Default GTA - Transmission Shops

While downshifting into either 3rd or 4th I am experiencing a rather nasty grinding sound and difficulty putting it into gear.

I am pretty sure my 3rd and 4th synchro's may be on the way out and that I'll need a rebuild shortly. I really do not want to take my T56 to Joe Blow Transmission and have some banana screw around. Does anybody know of any perf. shops in the GTA - or southern Ontario for that matter - that does Tranny work for the T56?

Any help appeciated,
- J

Try Rob at Selective Automatic Transmission (905-686-8715) in Ajax. They do great work on auto's and if he can't help you he'll steer you in the right direction.

Regards,
Dan

Marty or Ray both do excellent work on T56's. Rob at Selective hopefully can build T56's better then his A4 work!

I may be in need of a T56 rebuild soon. I'm trying to sort out whether this is something that can be done locally in the GTA or if I am better off shipping it out to be done. Has anyone had their T56 rebuilt locally by a shop in the GTA and been happy with the results?

Thanks...

I'm located in London, Ontario and I'm pretty sure I need a tranny (T56) rebuild. Gears are grinding when I'm down shifting. I want to find someone that I can get rebuild it. Willing to drive to the GTA area. I know this thread is old but I thought I'd try and get some input! Thanks, Greg!

I was just reading that they are no longer making a lot of parts for the T56.

Hey guys, sorry to bump an older thread, I am having issues with 3-4 not going into gear, grinding, if i go very slowly they pop in, 4th seems to make a grind each time, but when i go slower it's gentler.

I read that this is a natural cause of poor forks and aluminum keys... so i've been told billet keys are key.

I am in Mississauga west end/oakville.

I would like to rebuild and wonder what the cost may be? What is available locally. The earlier posts are old.
