Default Track tonight

Going back out with the carb spacer, custom built trans mount, removed the interior carpet and i am fixing to take out the back seats just for the track, i might even take the back bumper an door bars here in a minute to see if i can squeeze a bit more out of her.

Nice, are you going to run some bigger meats? I went with my cammed 6.0 (granted it had some issues) but it blew the tires off all the way through the 8th. I didn't realize how impossible it was to hook with stock sized street tires LOL

If I move back next year I will have to come check that thing out some day, I used to live in the conroe/woodlands area up until about 4 years ago.

Well, i chopped where the bar is not a while bar, it is about half, was easy to get to for the most part, seeing as i am built like a ******* GORILLA.

But my results made me say

H
O
L
Y

S
H
I
T

Went from a 8.0 to 8.1 at 92.8 with 1.9ish 60from the last outing a few weeks ago to:

1.82

7.63

94.82 MPH

All i can say is WOW, 4 tenths? That is bad *** in my book any day!

Now, the disappointing pass with a 1.72 60 foot, well, my dumb *** that pas just HAD to try shifting early and see if it MIGHT go faster, WRONG, so, 1.7 60, 7.6x time, 92 MPH and change, so if i had stayed at the usual 7K shift point, i am sure a 7.5 or so would have happened. Had to drop pressure to 11 PSI or so to not spin, but i was launching about 55-6000 and slpping the clutch pretty hard. So, i think i can get 7.3 or better if i really did the ol girl bad, but it is street car and the next track outing will be with another mod/weight reduction.

I was happy to get 7s, but man, that thing is getting where it needs to be now.

Come on back man, this is the place to be!

I was on my 26x11.5/16s. The do damn well and if/when the day comes they wont hook, a 28x10.5 will be in the works sooner than planned.

great new times, but a 1.82 is still not "hooking". Keep going in the proper direction though, still curious on those door bars you pulled and how much they weighed, last time i checked inside my door panels it all looked spot welded to me and i'm not risking messing up this expensive paint job for 10 pounds.

Well, i was slipping the clutch and there was no spin, so it has traction, if i side stepped it, then the 60 would go down if my stock DS would hold, but i am scared it could take something out with it. 1.7 wasnt bad. Just because you dont 60 foot low doesnt mean you are hooking.

Congrats! 94 mph in the 8th is movin pretty good. thats about where I am at. What do you attribute the gain to - carb spacer?
Getting decent 60ft's from a stick car isnt easy.
What kinda stuff do you have in the driveline that you are afraid of breaking? I am well aware of how burtal a clutch can be start upgrading before stuff breaks, cause it is allways more expensive to fix the collateral damage + the broken part

Thanks guys, the stock drive shaft is my weak link, so i am slipping the clutch hard instead of nearly side stepping it. Funny how i have automatic guys telling me what i need get my 60 foot down and they are in a different world in the transmission area. Not to mention i am happy cutting 1.7-1.8. If it was a track car, it would be different.

As for the gains, i am sure it is a combo of removing the side and rear impact bars and interior as well as the carb spacer, but it did help down low when launching with the spacer it seems, before it just didnt want to go so easily, not it just picks up faster rolling out, so THAT i am sure is a contribution of the spacer and not some weight i cut. The 60 foot getting down helped but the MPH gained was from the spacer and weight, but the carper and impact bars werent that heavy really, i will still do a before and after with the dyno when i get to it next month.

all my stick shift buddies are cutting high 1.4X this season. Upgrade the driveshaft before the heads and let it eat. That will fix your 7.5 into a 7.2 right there. Then I'd look into head swaps and all that other stuff. Four chicago guys local to me are cutting those times so I know it's possible man, I'm sure those heads will wake it up too, but it'll just a mph car not an ET car I guess.

The ET tells me power and that is the important number to me. It is still a street car. A drive shaft will be first, but i am surely looking forward to a heads swap.

yea I agree trying to launch a stick is different. MPH looks good a buddy of mine runs 94 to 95 and runs 7.20s best to date was a 7.16 so that shows you where you are in the power range. Congrats

Thanks man, i am sure i can get it faster if i want, but i am not trying to push the limit of the Centerforce clutch right now. Perhaps later, LOL.

Good to see how quick i can get if i wanted to. A stalled auto would be going in if i was looking for ET.
