To cam or not to cam...
what a dumb question, but one I'll ask anyways. My 70 Camaro currently has a th350 and the original, non-posi rearend. Right now I'm planning on doing my swap in 2 stages:
Stage 1: '99 LS1 with an Edel. RPM intake, Holley 770 Street Avenger carb and Dynatech LT headers.
Stage 2: Performabuilt Stage 1 700r4 with 3600 stall and a new rearend with 3.55s.
I already have a TSP Torquer v.3 cam (231/234 .643/.598 111LSA) with all the other upgrades it needs. I've never had a car with a larger cam and don't know how it effects driveability. It'll be a while before I can do stage 2 of my plan so I'm wondering if I should wait until then to do my cam swap or if it'd be ok to do it now since the motor isn't in the car yet. I know that without a posi I won't be able to use any of the power, but that applies to the LS1 swap in general, so I'll just be taking it easy until I can do stage 2 either way.
Thanks.

the other train of thought is that the 231/234 cam might not drive too nice with a stock torque converter. For that reason I would leave the cam swap till you get a converter, in stage 2 of your buildup.
BUT, it is tougher to swap the cam and valvesprings with the engine in the car, so I guess it really depends how much time you'll take between stage 1 and stage 2 ??????

Putting in a 2 piece cam cover now will simplify furture cam swaps. The covers are a little pricey, but that seems like a big *** cam. I would be a little concerned about wanting to back off a bit with something in between the two you have.

That's what I was worried about. The other option would be to get a cheap tc for the th350, just to last me until the new trans. I don't really know how long until stage 2 will come, I have a kid on the way so not sure how things will play out. Like I said, I won't be getting on it much anyways, so a cheap ebay tc might be the cheap solution for now but not sure.
