Question 383 ls1 vs 402 lq9?

I have seen the LS1 can be built into a 383 stoker and the LQ4/9 can be built into a 402/408 or 427.

Which engine is cheaper to purchase used the older LS1 or LQ4/9?

Usually bigger is better but cost is a real factor.

well a stroker kit will probably be within a couple hundred dollars for both a 383 and 408. the ls1 is a little hard to find with out being destroyed and typically run a little more than an iron 6.0 block. really depends on the seller. really its kind of up to you. im using a 5.3block having bored to a 3.898" and using a 4" stroke to make my 382 and boost it. it all with what your wanting to do in the long run. the 408 with generally make more power n/a but a lot of factors come into play. are you to keep it a roller motor or do solid lift with carb and front dist.? are you wanting to spray it boost it? we need a little more info as to what exactly your looking at doing.

I am wondering how the 6.0 stroked to 427 will run, i think it would be great for the street since the larger stroke than bore would make it not have to rev so high.

might as well take as many ci as can pay for.
i prefer a 4+ in bore engine over a 3.9 bore engine even if the 4+ in bore engine is iron an block

Yea, the 6.0 with a 4.1 stroke makes 427, i think that would just be better than a 408 in every 20 cubic inch way, LOL.
