Default sigle or dual plane

I am hearing dual plane for my 5.3. It is a 2005 going into a four wheel drive.
The motor is stock. Gear ratio is 3:73. I am planning on running a 600cfm electric choke edelbrock that I have had on the shelf for a while. I know that motor likes to breath, so depending on the iput I get here, I may change my mind.

what would you all recomend.

If you wont be going into the upper RPM very often, i would run a 650 Holley double pumper, it a 750 vacuum secondary.

I think if you go with a dual plane intake, you can get away with more carb. the intake basically cuts the carb in half as the engine see's it. 650 wont really be bad, but I would choose a 750 DP for the added upper rpm power.
600 will be too small.

Yea, if he is not going into the higher end, and it is a stock engine, a 750 DP would be a waste of time.

If it's a 4x4 that would actually be used as a 4x4 I'd be thinking quadrajet or that holley truck carb made for off camber fuel control. If it's just a DD type vehicle then a 650/750 double pumper would be my recommendation.

650 or 750, either one. Quadrajet would be a good choice too, better choke system than a Holley.

I think what you have will work perfectly. The dual plane is the perfect choice for your application. While I have no experience with the Edelbrock carburetors, I hear very good things about their reliability and simplicity for general purpose use.

I would personally use a vacuum secondary 750 for its ability to vary the secondarys depending on manifold pressure. Single or dual plane, from what im finding out, dosent seem to bother the LS1 much. High RPM for a Gen 1 SB is considdered normal for an LS. My stock 200,000 mile 5.3 in my pickup shifts at almost 5800 rpm under full throttle conditions. Just my .02

My 750 Vac secondary was great for my dual planed carb'd LS. I would suggest the same setup. The Single and dual are very compaative, but the dual is better for the low end torque needed in the truck.

Thank you all your input, I decided to use the q-jet stage II carb from summit.
