wiring a RPM accessory to MSD 6012

not sure if this is the right place or not but I had an idea for my project.
Is there a way to wire something to come on at 1800 RPMs? on my boat i want to wire a water valve solenoid that will let water into the headers at 1800 rpms. kinda like a NOS switch i guess. Is this possible?

A window switch is designed for anything, not just nitrous, so that would be my vote.

I'm thinking an rpm activated switch that comes on automatically at a given rpm everytime and shuts off under that rpm no matter what

Not through the MSD 6012/10 box, you'll need a dedicated RPM or window switch as noted.

Sort of like a shift light.

A window switch, that is whats needed.

forgive my ignorance wiring is definately not my strong suit. But are you guys refereing to a momentary switch like for a power window?

ZONES89RS 02-26-2011 02:33 AM

No, a window switch is setup to activate or deactivate a accessory from a given "window" of RPM you wish to start and end.

Hahaha that makes way more sense!!! Is that activated by the tach or by the crank?

ZONES89RS 02-26-2011 01:11 PM

Usually by the tach signal.

Here's a couple examples, first the old-style (uses pills to set), and now the new digital style. Let your wallet be your guide...
