Cam Choice - I wish I would have gone a little bigger
Now that I have had some time to cruise around in my car, I wish I would have gone a little bigger on the cam. Not because of the powerband but simply for the idle. Once my car warms up, it idles nearly smooth. I have the XR275H12 from Comp Cams. It is 222/224 .566/.568 on 112. If I were to do it over again, I probably would go with something more like 230/236 on 110. I won't take it apart again anytime soon, but if I ever do I will bump it up a bit so I can have a little more rumpety rump.

I just purchased a Comp Cams 238/240 for my LS2 404 c.i. Stroker motor.
They say this cam should have good driveability in my 404 c.i.
Im thinkin i might have to go with a little more Stall in the future.

Stock Cube LQ9? a 228R would have been my choice.
I have a T2 232/234-112LSA in a 404 and love it.
EDIT to ADD: You may want to do a custom grind vs an off the shelf, the vic jr's seem to react better to a cam cut for the intake.

From what all I've read, it looks like the ASA cam works pretty decent and has the sound you want...

That ASA cam has a rumble to it, maybe more than I would want. If I compare it to what Speedtigger is running now.
Speedtigger's : 222/224 .566/.568 on 112
GM ASA : 226/236, 525/525 at 110°
so a fair amount more exhaust duration, less lift and tighter lobe separation.
Is it the LSA that is making the difference in the idle, or that combined with the few more degrees of duration that causes that idle?
Just noticed Lunati has come out with a whole line of new LS cams, some specifically for carb.

Even the mildest one in the list above seems pretty radical. 108 lobe separation though. But the lift numbers, what sort of issues will that cause? I figure checking piswton clearance will be must, but what sort of springs are needed for that much lift and what sort of spring life could be expected?

I think it has more to do with the LSA
If you took 2 of the same cams (same lift and duration) one with a 106 LSA and one with a 114 LSA (if you could do that) the tighter LSA I think would sound way more aggressive.
