Default Q-jet?

Has anyone had any experiences with attempting a Quadrajet on an LS? Before I hear a bunch of bad reactions,, I'm good at tuning and modifying them. They work great off road and I've been able to out mileage some throttle body and TPI systems with them. I can usually out mileage any holley. My apologies up front if anyones offended,, just curious. Thanks

People have talked about using them but so far I don't remember seeing anyone who says they having one running.

No one makes a spread bore manifold so you will have to suffer adapters.

And yeah, it usually pisses somebody off just talking about them.

Go to thirdgen.org there is a big thread about it in the lsx sub forum.

There fine arbs if you can tune them, but most people throw them out since they can't.

a q-jet would look great on an ls i would suffer with the adapter just for the sake of seeing people look at it like a rat turd in a bowl of rice.. but what would make it even more interesting would be to machine a whole in the adapter for a sneaky little nitro shot...lol thats what hotrodding is about using your own opinion of whats cool.. and beating your friends with that not just buying power out of the box..

Yea, I already thought about doing a power shot setup thru the adapter. Including grinding and polishing it to try and blend it in with the manifold. The 1/2" space under it should also be an advantage on the GM dual plane intake. Not my first attempt with high perf,,just my first LS build. Was always good with carbs and tuning them. Spreadbores done right still go fast, hit hard and save a "little" bit of gas.

Cool Thanks.

I"m gonna see. Ran this one for years on a sbc 355 that I built. After many recalibrations,,it did great. I even swapped on holleys,,edelbrocks,,& afb's none as good. It was of a 454 so now I'm supe I'm gonna have to jet it back up. Otta be fun on an L92/LS3,,comp cams,,Lingenfelter stage III heads,ETC,ETC. Keep you posted.

I'm having one built right now to put on my my 5.3l which I will be putting in the car asap. Gonna run it on the current terd 305 mean while untill I get all the parts collected for the ls swap. I want to know how to or if anyone has ever successfully done a qjet in a blow thru set up. I have a guy / mentor who is in love with the q jets and is starting to put his 40yrs experience with them into a q jet rebuilding service...I will be running the adapter with a 150 shot plate kit under it just to freak people out...lol. If anyone knows anything about a qjet in a blowthru set up please let me know. I think with it tuned right on a 5.3l 23 mpg is possible, or at least thats my goal. 373 gear with a 2004r trans in a 88 monte carlo ss

Thumbs up Q-Jet

Done a blow thru turbo set up on a 427 years ago. Bonnet set up didn't work. Way to many places for air pressure to leak out,,,And fuel. Secondary flap would hang open. Went to a brass float and a fully enclosed carb and worked fine. Need to connect boost pressure to fuel pressure regulator though with a decent pump so pressure will increase with boost. Belt driven should be same principal. Good Luck.

If you want to run a Q-jet (as I do on my 408 SBC), go to the expert, Cliff Ruggles. It may take some time to get one from him as he's back-logged, but it's worth the wait. Research Cliff's Performance. I used to run one of Sean Murphy's from SMI. Not bad but not a Cliff Ruggles Q-Jet.
