Looking back to NASCAR and the Daytona or Superbird and the "aero-car wars" can really explain a lot.[/QUOTE]
Do you know the only reason that Dodge and Plymouth made the rear wing that high in those cars? Not a trick question but the answer will make you laugh. See if anyone can guess it

You got er. Isn't that funny. These diehard mopar guys thinking it was a well thought out engineered part, ended up being an after thought so they could open the trunk past the fixed wing

Back in the NMCA hay day we got a 25# weight break if your car bargain much frontal area. ie- our Skylark got the break, but a nova, camaro, or Mustang didn't

I'm in that same pondering boat as you.

My best run was as follows

1/8th mile: 7.54@91 MPH on a 1.68 60ft
1/4 mile: 11.92@111MPH

It seems an fbody, Corvette, or new GTO would all trap 113-116mph with that kind of 1/8th mile time and MPH. I've been trying everything I can to get my speed up with no luck. Bigger maf, bigger filter, playing with tune, shorter tire, higher rev limit (which I think is still the biggest factor since I'm shifting at 6600rpm and the cam likely doesn't stop its carry until 6800rpm).

My car weighs around 3750# with me in it as I race it which isn't that far from a stockish f-body.

I am betting that lowering our cars to lower the profile and a chin spoiler to keep the air from under the car would have an impact.

Mine is as low as it can go right now due to the oil pain clearance, but honestly since the front tires tuck .5-1" into the front fender as is I wouldn't want to go lower.

I wouldn't mind a chin spoiler if I found something that didn't look terrible too. The only thing I've found is the front spoiler made to mimic the first gen Camaro style.

Yeah, go to low with that chin spoiler and it will get killed on the street.

How may of you have a lock up verter and use it? I had an 80E behind my 347 that was previously in the truck. Unlocked best mph was 115.. Locked next pass pulled 118.. Only gained like .05 on the ET. Food for thought.

That is the spoiler I posted.

Do you guys really think it would help? Looks like it would mostly be for aesthetics and if anything forcing the air up into the radiator might hurt aero? My girlfriend was wanting to buy me one for my birthday this week but I had talked myself out of it.

It looks awful small. I have my doubts it would do anything measurable.

Really unsure on how much it would help....maybe they could give you more info ?

I know the aftermarket plastic ones deform bad at speed (mine had a mishap with the trailer ramp)
