first night out on the street playing in the new area, brought it home on the trailer

seems the tick stage 2 didn't like a hard 2-3 on street tires, lol! i'm sure it was already hurt, cause it seems unlikely that it would have broken the way it did otherwise. i think i got the output shaft but i'll know more this weekend.

time for vipershaft and faceplate upgrade!

That build should hold 750, something just wore out I'm sure. Hope you can get a quick fox unless your ready to shell out the funds for the parts mentioned. I was hoping to see some more improved time slips soon!

Well, a viper input will eliminate any worries of failure there. Lol

And that one I had built with new billet keys, brass sliders, steel 3/4 fork, Carbon Kevlar clutches and a new 2nd gear never skipped a beat, even on the nitrous. Traded it for a stock t56 that is in my s10 and 1k. I had it built with parts for that much.

well...not what i was hoping to find...not sure exactly what the long term solution will be, but i think i'm going to send this to Tick to have it fixed and re-set up to their tolerances.

talked with Jonathan at Tick Performance a bit yesterday. T56 is shipping monday. it will recieve:
-new input shaft
-new cluster shaft
-faceplated 1-4 gear set
-REM polishing
-cyrogenic treatment of all pieces
-plumbed for squirters onto the input/cluster gear set
-viper mainshaft
we worked out a payment/layaway plan. here's to hoping i get it all back together over the next 6 weeks or so. trying to get it back together by yellow bullet, but definitely hope to be at the ProStick/UMTR stick shift nationals in mid september at MIR.

Good luck in timing bro, cannot wait to see hl what your input is on the changes. The shifts are supposed to be superior for drag application.

jonathan said any car seeing 7000+ rpm shift points should really consider it. i told him our intention was to turn it up from the 7100 rpm to 7400 rpm shift point on our next time out, but i broke the trans before i got it try. he was like..."uh...yeah...it's probably a mandatory thing at this point", lol! so....faceplate it is!

we don't have a full figure yet as we don't know what the full extent of the damage is. i do NOT have the money hanging around, so that's why i'm doing a layaway thing.

ok, so i've been in contact with Tick a bit over the last couple of weeks formulating a plan and figuring out the next steps. after the teardown here is what they found:

-failed input shaft
-failed cluster gear
-chipped 5th gear (collateral damage)
-chipped 6th gear (collateral damage)
-chipped reverse gear (collateral damage)

here is what they are doing to repair and upgrade
-replace damaged gears
-faceplate 1-4
-REM polishing
-cyrogenic treatment of all parts
-viper mainshaft
-bungs/sprayers for external fluid pump
-and of course their world famous assembly specifications.

the bill is staggering, and Tick has stepped up to help by covering their labor (Thank you Jonathan Atkins and Tick Performance!). I am not sure when it will be paid off, but i'm chipping away at it little by little every week.

which makes me begin to ponder. i'd like to keep the trans (for now at least) but i'm thinking about reliability. If i went to a slipper type clutch, would that add some life to the trans?
