Default 86 mustang carb bogging and high idleing

I just got my mustang running. First day it was runing great a lil high idle and a. Lil cough hear then there. Last night I took it to the track and it was running bad. High idle and then it will drop and almost like the carb will load up. Ill clear it out and then it b fine for another couple of seconds.

When I staged up and hit the gass all it did was cough choke and was throwing black smoke

Driving home alround 2000 rpm it load up a bit and then it clear up by itself

Carb has been rebuild. No vac leaks.
Wires and tr55 plug r new.

Its a stock 5.3 out of a 03 avalanche,

It does sound like a vacuum leak. You plugged the hole in the intake right? The one on the runner where you can mount an MSD box?

Might be a little bit of trash floating around the needle and seat. That will cause the carb to flood, by over filling the bowls. It will also cause a high or nothing idle.

is the carb new? what carb is it? How do the plugs look? We always put in a fresh set before making passes to see what is going on.

Hope that was it but probably was not the cam sensor. The cam sensor isn't needed once you get the car started. You can completely disconnect it and the car will have a 50-50 chance of starting up and running properly.

Maybe some junk just worked its way loose in the carb.

In your first post were you referring to using nitrous or just stomping the gas pedal?

Still sounds like trash at the needle and seat. New build, just got it running. Flushing the junk in the tank around from sitting, IMO.

And this is EXACTLY why I will wait til I am ready to run the truck before putting anything in my brand new fuel cell.. To avoid fuel breaking down and causing problems with my fuel system.
