my 4th gen carbed progress
Well i have finally had it up to my ears in efi tuning.
So after 2 blown head gaskets and a couple of missing plug straps i decided to go carbed route.
my current build which does start and run fine just gotta finish my gauge mounting and other piddly stuff before driving.
so here is where im at with my project. (granted i went overboard on somethings just for future projects)
engine,
2002 ls1 original bottom end,
installed arp 200 rod bolts
prc stage 2.5 5.3l truck heads
comp cam intake and exh@.50 235/243
113 lsa
valve lift int, exh .621/.624
ls6 timing chain
ls6 oil pump
ls7 lifters
trickflow 7.4 hardened pushrods
air intake
edelbrock victor jr intake
n2o outlet puck system
prosystems 780 cfm carb
stock fbody accessories minus a/c
ignition
msd 6010 box with stock coil packs
also have a one-off n2o outlet coolant crossover tubes that fit the nitrous puck system.
fuel system
magnafuel quickstar 300
with a bulkhead fitting in the bottom of tank and return where the tank press sensor went.
all -8 up to the y block
-6 to the regulator and carb
-6 to the nitrous regulator (not mounted yet)
magnafuel returnless style regulator.
i used a lokar throttle cable
mounted the msd box inside the car at the passenger kick panel.
drivetrain
th400 trans with circle d 4000 stall.
steel custom driveshaft
ford 9" rear end with 3.70 gears and locker
35 spline moser axles with 5/8 studs
other than that its pretty much summed up. not a whole lot but not just bolt ons either. cant wait to get it running and driving this weekend then hopefully some track times soon after.
current track times were best of:
11.4 @119 on motor
10.7 @112 on 150.(let out due to low rev limiter setting)
thats with 2 blown head gaskets so im sure it will pick up quite a bit once i go back. here are some pictures of the progress. its not done yet so some of the engine bay shots may look a little messy here.

I put a cheap craigslist converter in the th400 once and well let's just say 250 repair bill later I went ahead and waited to buy the good one from circle d and I'll post them as soon as I can. Trust me I'm in for results also

Not sure what BTE does, but circle D impressed me with their CNC converters, they truly make them in house from a 60 pound core, and make everything specifically on mind for resisting flex and keeping everything together m as well as support the internals for extra bearing support. Just all the little things that make them stand out from others I have seen.

I had just google searched a lot of companies when I got mine and circle d everyone had great reviews so that was good enough for me so I got the pro 258mm billet one they offer and I got back from deployment, put it in and it was just amazing how much it woke the car up. Really helped with the 3.70 gears

no not much of a racecar still has some creature comforts. a/c is going back on and probably a t56 soon. anyway i had a little fun this weekend gonna try to see if i can get the videos up soon. ran a couple dyno tested 500 whp cars this weekend from low rolls and some 60 rolls (not my choice) but i didnt lose but did gain some respect for a well built civic even though it was a turd of a car but ran like a rocket lol.
