Yes sir. Matt will make it happen. The key to job searching is to treat it like a full time job.

I hope everything goes well for you Matt. I also have a question to anyone that does this on the side. I have done a few swaps for some of my close friends and family but have never done it for a so called customer. I'm finding it difficult on what I should charge for this as I have a few people interested. I am just going to install a cam, install the motor and trans, fab trans crossmember, do the fuel system, and tune it. What would you charge in labor for this?

Custom work isn't cheap.....how long does it take you start to finish ?

Some people like a flat rate Vs. charged hours so they feel like they're getting a deal.

if it's a task i've done over and over, i'll charge by the job or task. if it's something sort of new, it gets an hourly rate.

I get the task of pulling mine apart a little this week. The air was pretty good this past Saturday. Car was going to run another personal best I'm sure. Usually, off the trailer it will go 6.10-6.13. Then by first round the dial will usually be 6.04. This time, off the trailer it went 1.28 60ft @6.04. made a few more passes about the same, then the 4th pass, it spun a little, went 1.34 60ft and still ran 6.02 @ 80 degrees. Promising. so, we tightened compression one click in rear, and ext also. went back up for another time trial, staged, left. The car launched hard. Ive been wanting to drag the bumper anyway at least once. Buddy said the bumper was on the track by the time I passed the tree. usually the car just goes up so high, I shift, it comes back down. This time it kept going up. It went up a little more, then gas started pouring out the carb onto the windshield, I panicked, lifted. Car came slamming down, still running, I hit the gas. Almost immediately, smoke filled the car. I smelled oil. I turn ignition off. Coasted over to the side off the end of the track. After we got back to the trailer, We checked it out. Looked like oil pan, caster/camber plates was about it. drug fuel pump off its mounting pad in the back, bumper just flexed right back into place. chipped the paint on the edge of my doors just a little from where it tweaked the body panels a little. We fixed that just by pulling on the panels a little. After I got it home and got under it, I found the trans is broke too by 2 bolt holes, It will be fixed this week. New oil pan ordered. ordered a moroso 20143 pan out of steel, so maybe if this happens again, it wont bust, just bend. But the first thing I ordered was some travel limiters. Those should be on this week too. It was a very wild ride. A few said the thought it was going over backwards. But we finally set it down at the 330. Our day was done. It still had oil pressure when I shut it down, so engine should be fine.

I need video or pics.....apparently no one was ready for it. I know I wasn't.

These were some from a previous week. I didn't know they were even filming, or I might have turned it up. lol

That is a fact. And for anyone who has never done chassis work, it ain't for sissies. It is a combination of careful planning, hard work and attention to detail. Throw in the summer heat and protective gear and it really gets tough.

Here is one that I did back in the late 90s on my old 64 Special:
