thanks! i have a A-body also. I'm always interested to see what people are running. I am putting more focus on my suspension this year.

Since I'm going forced induction, of course my carburetor won't cut it anymore. So, here's my solution.

Front suspension question. I figure I'll ask here since it seems like majority of people here race. I have 71 chevelle with cheap 90/10 shocks and trick springs rated at 242 lb in. The trick springs have been in a couple months now. After the springs installed the front end came up a lot easier at launch. But my front ride height is really tall. I can barely move the car by pushing down on it. So I'm wondering if I need to go with softer springs, shorter, or keep what I have and just cut some coil off. Reason I'm asking also is my buddy has trick springs and 90/10 shocks in his Camaro and his can move up and down fairly easy just by pushing down.

Does your buddy's springs have the same rate?

Probably not. When I felt how much movement his had it got me thinking maybe mine is wrong. Was only 2 choices in spring rate for my car

No. Small block springs. I'll might keep the springs and just cut a little off for ride height and get some decent 90/10 shocks then see how it moves

Stock Z-28 replacement springs here and Comp 3-ways set to 90-10....front end moves nice.

One thing I have to ask is, when you installed the springs, did you tighten everything while car was in the air with no weight on the tires ?

If so, this can cause a bind, which can cause the same issues you're having

Loosen everything up some and take a slow ride around the block to let it settle, then re-torque while it has weight on it.

I only took apart upper ball joint to change springs out. Maybe I'll disconnect shocks and see if it moves any easier and go from there.

I think it might be just too high spring rate.

Oh, and cutting a spring to lower the ride height will increase the spring rate some....depending on how much is cut.

1/2 coil is about 1
1 full coil is about 2-2.25"

Be sure, if you do cut, to use a cut-off wheel...do not use a torch.

i was also thinking if i have to take those trick springs back out i might as well get different ones. they were nerve racking putting in. felt like the compressor was gonna break at any second lol. maybe i ll try those santhuff springs in 225 rate.im sure they can help me pick.

I ran trick springs in my Camaro for a few years. Mine had to be cut to achieve proper ride height. Going along with what Doug said about tightening the A-arms.....I never really tighten mine down at all. I double nut the bolts and lock them together so I'm never pinching the A-arm and causing a bind. Also remember that a 90/10 shock SHOULD be hard to push down on to a point. They should extend easily and be tough to compress.
