Hey guys I'm fed up trying to get timing figured out so IMA sell it.what could I sell my carved 5.3 for minus carb.it has msd 6010 preformer intake stock motor 123k miles stock manifolds and crank adapter new alternator and water pump runs great just tired of the laptop and also realizing it'll b more cost effective if I just stay with my old SBC stuff.

Cost effective if you already have the LS? Lol, that doesn't sound right.

Put a torque converter behind it if you don't have one so it can hit it's power band quicker. That's a problem with any stock setup.

Don't give up on it bud. Like those guys said put a stall in it. My stock 5.3 out the junkyard with victor jr intake, and 4000 stall in my coupe went a 12.40 at 111.

Ps my stock 5.3 ran its best pass with 37 degrees from 800rpms all the way across

You say your having timing problems but what your describing doesn't sound right. What carb do you have on it? What fuel pump? You have removed the factory in tank pump if you are using a external pump (a favorite S10 forum topic). Check every header tube with a temp gun to confirm all the cylinders are "hitting". With your set-up and a good carb even the default (#3 pill) setting should run decent.
