Looking sweet Matt! That 9 second pass should not be too hard! Interested in the weights before and after if you don't mind.

thirdgenbum 01-17-2015 10:43 AM

car weighed 3201 lbs as it sat on the starting line at the end of the year last year. my goal is 3100 lbs. door project should be worth bout 30lbs of that. i will outline what i do with that in this thread too.

the lug nuts were a "rip the bandaid off" experience. i had to buy them before i thought about it too much longer cause they were pricey. they run 8.50 each nut. currently i only have enough for the front as i'm putting 5/8" studs in the rear, and didn't want to buy those till that project is done. i'll get an approximate weight of the McGard steel nuts i have and compare them to the Champion nuts.

thirdgenbum 01-17-2015 06:17 PM

well, the nuts weren't any huge game changer, but it's more than a half pound difference, in rotating/unsprung weight it won't hurt things, lol.

here are the McGard's i'm pulling off

and the Champions i'm putting on

got the hardlines all run. i've never ran hardlines on anything before, so i'm pretty pleased with the way it turned out honestly.

looks awesome, I love this car.

thirdgenbum 01-20-2015 07:35 AM

thanks! looks like i'm going to add motor/mid plates to the winter updates this year. i found i'm overpowering the k-member stands and getting more twist than i'd like. plates will make it all solid and should help with 60' times as well.

onefast84 01-20-2015 08:52 AM

Where are you getting the plates from?

thirdgenbum 01-20-2015 09:20 AM

i'm going to be working with jason at pa racing for them, but i will likely be doing a lot of the work myself as far as fitment.

thirdgenbum 01-20-2015 09:22 AM

clutch cars are tough on these parts, lol. i'd bet if i was auto i wouldn't be having these issues.

I sold my headers and exhaust system to my cousin who will be doing an lsx swap for the 2016 season. That gave me enough funds to get the material to build my big tube headers and the motor and mid plates. headers will be 1 7/8" primary with a 3.5" straight collector. i priced out merge collectors and even contemplated making my own, but it's just out of reach. a buddy of mine ran the combo through pipemax and these are the specs needed for my engine, so i'm pretty happy with my decision so far. i've built many exhaust systems before, but never a set of headers. i hope it all goes well. The big thing here will be taking my time to get it right. if i can get away enough this week, i'll pull the transmission and start the mid plate mockup. I am going to build a template, probably from poster board, and send that to Jason at PA Racing who will lazer cut/water jet a mid plate for me off the template, so here's to forward movement once again! things left to get:
-35 spline billet pinion yoke and associated bearings
-billet slip yoke
-rear brakes

then i think i will be ready for the 2015 season!

thirdgenbum 02-04-2015 08:54 PM

speedtigger 02-05-2015 08:38 PM

What was the freight on that?

thirdgenbum 02-05-2015 09:34 PM

free. was included in the price i guess. just came inside a folded over piece of cardboard with staples.
