Default quick question..msd 6012

Can I run a msd 6012 box with the 58x crank and sensor (duh) but use the older style cam sensor on top of the block?

Aside from the obvious difference (looks) it may work. Looking on RockAuto, a cam sensor from a 2008 Silverado 5.3 crosses over to most vehicles from 2004 thru 2013. I know the 2004's definitely had 24x reluctors, so apparently that same sensor will work on both 24x and 58x wheels. You may need a new plug shell, where the harness plugs in may be keyed differently.
