Default 4.8 cam advise.

Going to put my 4.8 gen III into a 3500 lbs. '66 Buick skylark. The car will be street driven. Will have a stock 350 turbo and converter, shorty headers going into 2 1/4 dual exhaust with flowmasters. Have a msd 6010 and edelbrock performer dual plane intake and edelbrock 600 4bbl carb. Hoping to get the car to revel to 6000 rpm and be able to smoke the tires. Would also like to hear the cam. any recommendations? Hoping to get part numbers etc. as I'm not real good at understanding all the numbers and what they will do

Long story short this car belongs to my brother in law who got ripped off by some one on Craigslist and bought a blown up 455 olds. Pulled the Buick 310 out and spent all his money on what he needed to put the olds 455 in. Now he has no money left and I am helping him get his car back on the road. I don't want him disappointed he doesn't have the bigblock. thank you.

Hey fleetside, I have a 4.8 in a 2300 lb mgb anyways I went with the GM hot cam kit comes with cam and new springs. I don't have the specs on hand right now but what a lope at idle sounds awesome. and she comes in around 2200-2800 and sets you right back. good luck with your build

What rear gear is in the back? The little 4.8 would benefit big time from an increase in stall speed of the torque converter. If you want to punish the tires, a torque converter upgrade is the smart money.

My s10 ran fantastic for being a 4.8. Being a automatic you will lose some power to the ground compared to me and if you don't have the 243/799 castings I had it will cost 15 HP maybe, but I used the edelbrock 2215 cam grind. It is 220/220, .510 lift on a 111 LSA. Can sounds phenomenal and made 312 RWHP and 308 torque.

As for sound, it is the best sounding truck I have ever had.

How much converter did you have in that truck?
