Default Msd6010 with gen4 cam sensor

I'm putting my gen3 stroker kit into a alum block which happens to be gen4. I didn't get the front cover or valley cover with the alum block so I need a place to put cam sensor. Should I try to drill the block in the gen3 location or get a gen4 front cover, cam and timing set? Will the gen4 sensor be compatible with the 6010 box?

Just get an LS2/LS3 front timing cover with sensor kit. Then run a 1x camshaft timing gear. You will still need an adapter harness to reach from the back to the front. Speartech sells them.

Default Thanks

Thanks for answering my question. Swapping to alum block has some complications but I think losing a hundred pounds will be worth it.

I might have a brand new cam position sensor extension harness in my garage. Let me know if you're interested

Default Cam sensor

I got my new front cover with cam sensor and my cam gear was the 1x but I wonder if the sensor is the correct 1x vs. 4x?

You can look on Rockauto and cross-reference the sensor to different vehicles. IIRC, the difference in front-mounted sensors is between VVT and non-VVT front covers...
