Default Interesting Data on first outing with new car.

This isn't an optimum setup yet as I need to change rear gears. But car has a LQ4 with 799 heads, small cam, Victor Jr and a 800 Holley that Windmill loaned me. The car has a glide and 3.70 gears. Car weight is around 3100-3200 Lbs with driver. and is on a 28x10.5 slick

Time Slips are left to right 1st to last passes. I have noted on the slips the differences, but may not be able to read them so here it is too. Only differences I tried were Hood, breather and exhaust. The car has a 6" Windshield Cowl hood, a K&N 3" Air Cleaner and exhaust was Flow Masters. As you can see the Hood and Exhaust were very restrictive on this car.

1- Hood, breather and exhaust ON the car.
2- Hood and breather OFF, exhaust ON
3- Hood OFF, Breather and exhaust ON
4- Hood and exhaust ON, Breather OFF
5- Hood and exhaust OFF and Breather ON

At least I learned something. Gonna throw some bullets on it, try a different hood and change gears later on. I think it has some 6.60's in it with proper gearing

One way to find out. I know the aero scoop on my 80 coupe didn't look right on a street car, but it did help.

Full 2.5" FlowMaster American Thunder exhaust Vs open headers being only change was .15 on my car....guessing due to weight.(less than an hour between runs)

My buddy with a 10.3X SBC Nova said the 3" Vs. the 2.5" was .08 faster (3") and a lot louder...

BUT....every car is different.

Nice passes

My old car picked up a tenth in the 10s going to old school bonnet scoop, over carb out bonnet. Could see the air getting rammed in as the fibreglass would lift a fraction down

Open headers will run leaner. You can check for exhaust pressure through a bung.

Got some 16" race bullets and turn downs for it today. Hope to get back to the track Sunday if weather is good and I'll report back with data then.

Looks like it needs a converter.

Maybe the hood needs to be cut back from the windshield?

Slowmasters/chokemasters gotta go!

Dynomax Bullets FTW!

Have a 4.56 ring and pinion. Trying to round up another center section so I can swap it out with the 3.70 in the car.
