Default 71 MC, looking for a little help.

I've been a member for some time now, but I didn't follow through with my build after baby, work, moving etc. Well I've had this baby in the garage for almost 5 years and this summer I plan on driving it. I have a 71 monte carlo, picking up a 5.3 for a pretty good price tomorrow. This will be a drive in the summer car, though I don't want a slug. 5.3, quick fuel carb, what intake, cam? I'll probably get some new heads but maybe I can just swap springs. Sticking with my 350 trans because I don't wanna buy another one and this one's basically new. Any suggestions on what to carb, cam and heads would be appreciated greatly.

Maybe if you don't get much action here try googling it, Ill bet that is a pretty common
question that has been answered many different ways, probably one will help you out.

Yeah, the Google feature yields so many results and almost none with a definite answer. I'll never understand why ppl don't play friendly on these forums. If I saw something someone already asked and had solved elsewhere I'd still help. It's not beneath me, but hey, it's like that on every forum (audiworld, etc) except maybe year1MC. I'll probably just follow what the guys on hotrod.com did. Thanks though

Stock 5.3 from a 2004 tahoo. Planned uses are just a summer cruiser, not really a racer but would like to be able to go. Just looking to do a cam. I don't know much about them, I may just go with a hot cam. Just looking for input on that aspect of the build. Everything else I've already done, just new to cam swapping.

Being just a cruiser, I'd leave it as-is...a hot cam would make it sound a little better and run a little faster too.
That sounds like your best bet for now.

Cam swap will be easy

Thanks Doug, I'll do the hot cam and let you all get a soundbite via YouTube when I wrap it up.
